Pearl's lips fell open. How dare he say that to her? She only gave him a taste of his medicine and he took it extremely.
"Besides, I was joking as well but you took it seriously and said I should go," Zale defended.
"What would you have me do?" She questioned, looking offended. When he shrugged, she picked at him.
"You should have petted me and kissed me and told me you won't go, not the opposite."
"I was going to do so when you stood up. I never expected you to get mad. I confessed my love to you and you couldn't do the same. I am hurt."
"I..." She was about to retort when it dawned on her she had nothing to say exactly.
He was right. She had reacted first when all she needed to do was be happy and confess to him.
"Ah," glee sparkled in her eyes as the memory of what he said came rushing back.
"I was simply not given a chance to be happy when you said you won't say it again."
