Chereads / The Vengeful Black Hoodie / Chapter 6 - Getting Tailed

Chapter 6 - Getting Tailed

During the ride to the movie theater, Fernando couldn't help but think about Mr. Caruso, and how he knew about what happened that night.

"Even if he wasn't involved directly, he'll get more than just an interrogation from me."

Christina fears that she might ruin the mood because she feels concerned for Fernando since he seems agitated, but she asks him anyway.

"Nando, what happened back there? did I miss something that was said?"

he stares out the window and replies, trying not to sound angry.

"I'm fine now, don't worry about me."

she thinks to herself.

"he is obviously lying, but I don't want to push him too much and risk having him angry while on our date."

she responds.

"Okay, if you say Nando."

after they find parking by the mall, she asks him.

"So what kind of movie do you feel like watching?"

he answers.

"Well, since you are paying, I'll watch whatever you want."

nearby where they parked the same man that was watching them from the Caruso Family Restaurant alley, comes out of his car wearing a plain white t-shirt, jeans, and white tennis shoes, he lights up his cigarette and thinks to himself while smoking.

"What is that bastard doing? and when is he going to be alone?"

he then puts on a gray sweater to help conceal his handgun, that he had tucked between his lower back and jeans, and he continues watching them from a distance while thinking.

"it doesn't matter I'll get you today even if that bitch sticks by you."

Christina asks Fernando nervously.

"can we hold hands, during our date?"

he replies.

"sure, I don't see why not?"

she smiles and holds his hands.

"just to let you know, I'm not really a dating type of girl, so I apologize in advance if I do something weird."

he tries to comfort her.

"well I've been out of the dating scene for at least six years, so you are not alone in that sentiment."

as they make their way to where the theater is located at in the mall, the mysterious keeps following them thinking to himself.

"tch, it is too crowded here, I might have to wait until they start heading back home or something."

they arrive at the ticket counter and Christina asks.

"what do you think about watching a romantic comedy?"

Fernando playfully pokes her cheek, with his other hand that is not holding hers.

"so you want to torture and bore me to death with a RomCom huh?"

she giggles.

"you did say, whatever I wanted to watch?"

he responds.

"true, but next time you'll have to sit through a movie I want to watch."

she looks into his eyes lovingly and replies.

"sure, I don't mind."

Christina then buys two tickets, but they still have two more hours to wait before it starts, Fernando then suggests.

"how about we eat something?"

she nods in agreement and asks.

"what do you feel like eating?"

he asnwers.

"I haven't had a burger in such a long time, and I can feel myself craving for one."

she responds in a disgusted tone.

"ugh, burgers are unhealthy and make you fat."

he teases her.

"Indulge a little sis, it's not like I'm expecting you to change your diet."

she groans.

"fine but I know I'm going to regret it."

they head towards the food court, where they are closely followed by the same mysterious man, without their knowledge, he keeps watching them as they approach a burger stand.

"this is weird, why sre they acting like they are on a date? I thought they were sibling."

he shutters to himself.

"are they having a secret incestuous relationship?"

he fails to hide is disgust, as he reaches behind his back for his handgun.

"sick bastard, I should put you down right now."

but a random nosy stranger notices him and asks.

"you alright there sir?"

he thinks to himself.

"how annoying."

he answers him.

"yeah, it was just my lower back acting up."

the random stranger replies skeptically.

"oh okay."

after the stranger leaves, he thinks to himself.'

"I need to be patient, if I don't want to risk getting caught."

after grabbing their burgers, with fries and a soda, they find an empty table in the food court area, where Christina pouts at Fernando.

"this better not be your revenge for me choosing a RomCom."

he takes a bite out of his burger, with a huge grin.

"mmmm, I missed this taste, come on and join me so we can put more junk in your trunk."

her jaw drops and responds playfully.

"oh, trust meI have enough backside that will keep your hands busy."

he sips on his soda.

"really? but you know what they say, about more cushion for the pushing."

she threatens to throw a piece of fry at him.

"you've gotten quite cheeky while you were in prison, huh lil bro?"

Christina thinks to herself.

"good, he is laughing and having a good time now, instead of thinking about what got him in a foul mood earlier."

she takes a bite out of her burger while thinking to herself.

"well if this turns into a good date, then eating this

meal that is bad for my diet, would make it worth it."

as they continue eating, she asks.

"so what was prison like?"

he responds.

"at first I was miserable, but in time I got used to it, and adjusted to daily life there."

she asks.

"did you ever regret not seeing us whenever we would come to visit?"

he shakes his head.

"while I was in there no, I still harbored a lot of hatred for your poor treatment of me, and I even blamed all of you for being in prison."

he sighs.

"but now that I'm out here and seen with my own eyes how you all changed, I'm wishing now that I should talked to you guys much sooner."

after they finish eating, Christina notices they still have some time left before the movie starts, she then comes up with an ideas of what to do next and said.

"Nando come with me there is something we must do."

they throw away their trash and then Fernando gets dragged by Christina, who leads him in front of a photo booth.

"we must commemorate our date with our pictures being taken in a photo booth."

Fernando responds.

"wow it feels like a lifetime since I've taken pictures in one of these things."

Christina who is completely swept up in the moment asks.

"really? when was it?"

he answers solemnly.

"it was when me and Denise were still together."

she sighs.

"your not supposed to think about other women while you are on a date."

he replies.

"my bad, you are right."

he takes the initiative and grabs her hand.

"well then let's go and commemorate our date."

after they take a couple of pictures, the both leave

smiling, with Fernando thinking to himself.

"It's nice seeing Chris like this, where she would make some offhand comments about me."

she grabs the pictures and smiles at him.

"I'll be keeping these safe."

they head back to theater with the mysterious stranger following closely behind, thinking to himself.

"even though I would love to give that bastard a quick death, he doesn't deserve it, I'll have his sister watch him bleed out slowly."

they enter the auditorium enter together, holding hands like they are a couples, with Christina thinking to herself.

"Vicky might have gotten a head start, but in the end her efforts will be wasted has he'll end up with me."

they find a seat, and after watching the previews, the movie finally starts, and somewhere halfway through the film, Fernando dozes off to dreamland, where he looks at the lifeless body of the man he just killed, he brings up his shaking bloody hands thinking.

"I just killed someone."

Vicky who has just woken up from the noise shouts.

"Nando!"

her shouting his name snapped him out of his thoughts, he rushes to her bed, and hovers his index finger up to his lips and whispers.

"shh, there is more of them."

he hears footsteps coming from the hallway, and quickly hides behind her open bedroom door, Vicky finally realizes what is going on, rolls off her bed and slides underneath, while trying hard not to freak out, Fernando readies his pocket knife as another one comes into Vicky's room, and hears him ask out loud.

"hey, did you finish off that brat yet?"

Fernando slithers out from behind the open door, and digs into the man's neck multiple times, the man falls down gargling in the pool of his own blood, Vicky covers her mouth with both her quivering hands, Fernando then hears Christina shouting coming from the hallway, he looks under the bed and said to Vicky with a cold and emotionless voice.

"Chris is in trouble, stay hidden."

Fernando is suddenly woken up from his little nap by Christina who is pouting.

"this doesn't count, you missed half of the movie."

he replies, feeling groggy.

"sure, I'll make it up to you next time."

she said with a coy smile.

"how about after this?"

he swallows hard and nods.

"yeah, okay."

they leave the theater and head towards Christina's car, with the mysterious man still following them, he thinks to himself.

"they live outside of the city, so it should be easy to get them with minimal witnesses."

they leave the city with the guy still following them with his truck, Fernando takes notice of this and asks Christina.

"is that car following us? or do you any of our neighbors owning a truck."

she shrugs her shoulders.

"I'm not really sure."

as the white truck speeds up beside them, Fernando gut feeling kicks in and said.

"Chris, spee-."

before he got to finish his sentence the truck slams into them, causing them to go off road, and hitting a nearby tree, Fernando groans.

"Chris answer me if you alright."

he takes off his seat belt and stumbles out of the car, but as he tries to stand up, the man points a gun in Fernando's face.

"don't move or I'll shoot."

before Fernando got the chance to react, the man

hits him in the back of the head with the gun, knocking him out cold.

"say nighty night."

Fernando wakes up slumped over, with both his hands tied behind the chair, feeling a killer headache, he looks around sluggishly and notices that him and Christina are in a middle of a dark, empty warehouse, he said to Christina.

"hey Chris, wake up!"

but she remains slumped over in her seat, not responding, he shakes his head and quickly realize that his legs aren't tied, and that the ropes on his hands are pretty loose, he then thinks to himself.

"whoever did this is not very smart."

his thought gets interrupted with the sound footsteps coming from behind him, and the voice of the mysterious man saying.

"Fernando, your time has come to pay for what you did!"

since he doesn't recognize his voice, he wonders in his thoughts.

"there aren't many that know me, so I'm not sure who it could be, maybe someone I've met in prison?"

he gives up because he can't think of anyone in the moment and taunts him by replying.

"I've done alot things, you are gonna have to be a little bit more specific."

the man comes around from behind and stands in front of Fernando wearing a black ski mask, and pointing a gun at his face, shouting angrily.

"you killed my brother that night you fucking bastard!"

Fernando smirks and thinks to himself.

"oh a brother looking for revenge?"

while he works on freeing his hands, he stares down the barrel of the gun, and said.

"I'm not sure which one he was but, I made damn sure he didn't die easy."

the guy pistol whips him on the lips, busting Fernando open, he then shouts.

"I was planning on having your sister watch you die!"

he takes the safety off and points the handgun at Fernando's forehead.

"plans have changed. She will wake up with you already dead!"

meanwhile, Fernando already freed his hands from the man's shoddy knot and made his move.
