Chapter 33 - The King

Perched atop a lofty mountain, Black Will, Lucy, and Kim sat in contemplation, gazing upon a meandering river below, flanked by distant mountain ranges. Their place of respite, adjacent to a crackling wood fire, offered a moment of reprieve amidst the imminent challenge that lay ahead.

"I wonder, are we truly safe in this haven?" Kim queried with cautious scrutiny.

Lucy concurred, "Indeed, prudence would dictate that we remain vigilant."

Emerging from the enigmatic depths of the surrounding woodland, their adversaries materialized once again. This time, the crab man's formerly injured hands bore no traces of harm, exuding newfound assurance and potency.

"We have returned, and assuredly, triumph shall be ours," proclaimed the seahorse tail lady.

Undeterred, she lunged directly towards Black Will, only to find her hands ensnared by his single, unyielding grip. "Your remark about growing stronger hasn't escaped my memory," Lucy interjected, her demeanor tinged with playful mirth.

A vial was swiftly brought forth by the lady, who promptly shattered it with her teeth, unleashing a violet-hued gas. Its effect rendered Black Will disoriented and grappling for control. Seizing the opportunity, the lady promptly disengaged.

The crab man lunged forth with ferocity, yet Black Will adeptly defended himself. A mysterious verdant radiance abruptly surged through the crab man's heart, bestowing heightened vigor, enabling him to land a formidable blow upon Black Will.

"As I earlier posited, our diligent inquiry revealed your vulnerability, prompting us to avail ourselves of divine blessings, generously conferred by a celestial emissary," the crab man taunted with ill-concealed triumph.

In the face of unrelenting adversity, Black Will persisted, deftly parrying their relentless assaults. The seahorse lady's celerity engendered a tempestuous maelstrom, lifting Black Will within its swirling embrace, while the others assailed him with a fusillade of pummeling fists and crocodile tail lashes, their laughter resonating with sinister reverberation.

The resultant impact with the mountainside rent it asunder, precipitating Lucy and Kim's involuntary descent. Emerging from the ensuing veil of dust, Black Will appeared to have inexplicably vanished.

With an enigmatic reappearance, Black Will materialized behind the crab man, delivering a potent blow. However, the blessings fluid fortified the crab man's prowess, enabling him to counter Black Will's onslaught and overpower him. "As forewarned, we deciphered the means to your downfall," he sneered, exuding smug satisfaction.

Following their prolonged struggle, they eventually reached the riverbank, where Kim and Lucy awaited with trepidation. Kim inquired, "How might we access your kingdom, considering our time constraints?"

With erudition, Black Will expounded, "By virtue of this river's interconnectivity with the sea, I shall teleport us there, thereafter utilizing my impenetrable bubble to traverse to my domicile."

Upon enacting their plan, as Kim and Lucy touched the river with one hand and Black Will with the other, they were instantaneously transported to the depths of the sea, their descent continuing within the protective confines of the iridescent bubble. They bore witness to the splendor of enchanting underwater cities that stretched beyond the horizon.

"Observe, Kim, the resplendence of these cityscapes that span as far as the eye can perceive," Kim exclaimed in awe.

"Indeed, and yet deeper lies our principal destination - my palace," Black Will responded, his voice suffused with determination.

Their odyssey culminated at the majestic main palace, where Kim outlined their intended path, seeking to unveil the prison where her father languished. Clad in masks to evade detection, they infiltrated the prison via teleportation, engaging in arduous skirmishes with stalwart guards, determined to reach the abysmal recesses that harbored the king.

Guarding the entrance were two formidable warriors, whose unparalleled prowess even Kim acknowledged. Yet, with uncanny ease, Black Will rendered them insensate. Within the dimly lit chamber, an aura of profound malevolence emanated from the incarcerated king. Rushing forward, Kim embraced her father, seeking solace amidst the tumult.

Addressing Black Will with piercing intensity, the king inquired, "Who are you, and why do you assist my daughter?"

"He has aided us, Father," Kim swiftly responded, eager to explain.

"I perceive," mused the king, "and he brings forth a retinue of formidable warriors. The young lady, in particular, holds promise, but the man ensconced in armor bears no trace of distinctive allure."

Wishing to interject, Kim hesitated, mindful of the king's stern demeanor. However, her voice prevailed, "Father, I implore you to extend the courtesy of ascertaining their identities first. You are well aware of the individual's true nature..."

Preventing her from uttering further words, the king admonished, "Have I not instructed you to refrain from interrupting me?"

"My name is Lucy," she responded with grace and composure, evoking a momentary pause from the king.

Seizing upon the opportune silence, the king proffered Lucy a proposition, "I extend to you an offer of everlasting sojourn within my kingdom, relinquishing any association with this lackluster knight. Your latent potential piques my curiosity."

Undeterred by her father's impolitic demeanor, Kim persisted, "Father, I beseech you to exercise restraint and inquire after their identities first. You are cognizant of the individual's nature..."

Without affording Kim another moment, the king silenced her, stating, "I shan't compel you to stay, but depart my realm forthwith, thou knight! As for thee, young Lucy, I afford thee the opportunity to reconsider."

Undaunted, Lucy maintained her composure as she held Black Will's hand steadfastly, replying, "Your Majesty, I am grateful for your generous offer, yet I must respectfully decline."

Upon witnessing the potent aura exuded by Black Will, the king signaled his retinue of soldiers to apprehend them. However, the potency of Black Will's formidable demeanor stayed their hands, prompting the king to issue a countermand.

"Very well, I shall not compel your presence, but depart expeditiously," the king instructed sternly.

Thus, they made their exit from the kingdom, ultimately embarking upon a sophisticated vessel, its regal presence epitomized by a majestic seahorse pulling it. As Kim shouted her gratitude from afar, promising to extend an invitation when she ascended to the throne, Black Will and Lucy acknowledged her with graceful waves, setting forth on their journey.

As they departed, an aged retainer approached the king, expressing his concern, "Your Majesty, did you not find their endeavors suspiciously facile?"

The king remained unswayed, asserting confidently, "Fret not, for I possess sufficient mastery to subdue such rabble."

"What is that."
