The soldiers just finished a great feast at Angerfall. In Angerfall Village, most women were cooks. It came naturally at such a militaristic place, especially when Bob refused to accept women into his army, despite Alaric's insistence.
There, the soldiers ate and drank in preparation for the next day. Some had to act as scouts on the Angerfall walls, but Alaric still made sure to send them meals and pair them up so they could socialize.
Just beyond Angerfall was the badlands. There, criminals lived freely, plundering, killing, or raping any who dared to enter. It was the most corrupt spot in the entire Neuling Kingdom, as it was allowed to exist all for profit.
Alaric could see it clearly, as the highlands turned flat and the grass became sand. The badlands were so hard to get by in specifically because of its sandy terrain, which appeared nowhere else in Neuling.
