Chapter 35 - Guard No.3

Gulliver's expression turned serious. "I think it's time you start explaining. Why did you come here? And why were you imprisoned?"

"Aghh!" Nolan sighed. "It's like this..."

...

He explained everything in detail. How he was captured by Finn, and how he killed Rosalia. He also explained how Bonosus threatened to destroy their restaurant.

"The reason we came here is because we heard that your Black Rose organization and Rosalia's Red Rose organization were enemies. So, I and Harley came here hoping to strike a cooperation with your Boss. No, it's better to say that we came here to request your help to destroy the Calvus noble family." Nolan said. "Of course, helping us, you will receive benefits."

"We indeed have enmity with the Red Rose organization, but destroying the Calvus noble family is not as simple as you think," Gulliver said. "Since Rosalia is Bonosus's daughter, naturally, they supported each other. The Red Rose organization is backing the Calvus noble family with military power, and the Calvus noble family is backing the Red Rose organization with financial power."

"But the rumors say that the since the Death of Rosalia, the Red Rose organization is in decline. Are you not worried for nothing?" Harley couldn't help but ask.

Gulliver shook his head. "That's what the rumors say. But in reality, it's far from the truth.

The Red Rose organization was never a match for our Black Rose organization. However, Rosalia was a slut. She slept with the leader of the Viper Organization. Thus, she received their help.

Now that Rosalia is dead, the Red Rose organization exists only in name. In reality, It is completely controlled by the Viper organization. And since the Viper organization is equal in power with us, we can not act rashly and attack the Calvus noble family." Gulliver explained.

"But if the Red Rose organization is controlled by the Viper organization, why would they help the Calvus noble family?" Harley asked.

"Because The Calvus noble family still provides them with money," Nolan said. "Am I right?"

"You are right." Gulliver nodded.

"Can you take us to your Boss? We may as well try our luck and ask her." Nolan asked.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Out of nowhere, someone banged on the door. Nolan, Harley, and Gulliver instantly turned toward the door.

"Looks like we don't need to bother ourselves with going to the leader," Gulliver said as he stood up. "They came for us."

Nolan and Harley nodded at each other and stood up from the chair.

With Nolan and Harley following closely behind, Gulliver walked over to the door and opened it.

On the door stood a man. He wore light silver armor and had a silver sword attached to his waist. He had shoulder-length black hair. Despite being in his late thirties, his athletic body gave off a mysterious feeling.

Behind him was Brutus. Brutus was like a tall tree in comparison to the man. However, the man gave off a much more dangerous feeling than the bulky Brutus.

"Sir Gulliver," the man bowed slightly to Gulliver. "Brutus the Butcher told us some unpleasant things. He told us that you plan to betray us. Though the Boss does not believe him, neither do I, still, please come with me and clear the misunderstanding."

"Hahaha!" Gulliver laughed. "Guard No.3, please stop pretending. If you truly didn't believe him, there would be no need for me to meet the Leader and explain myself."

"Ahhhh." The guard sighed and bowed once again. "I am guilty. I admit that what Brutus said sparked doubt in our minds. So before that spark becomes a raging fire, please follow me and clear the misunderstanding."

"Quit talking nonsense with him!" Brutus rushed to grab Gulliver. "I will force him to come with us!" He stretched his hand to grab him.

Grab!

The man grabbed Brutus's wrist. "Did I allow you to use force?" The man turned to Brutus and looked him in the eyes. His eyes were cold, and his voice even colder. "You only realize the surface of how important sir Gulliver is. An idiot like you could not understand his true value. You caused enough trouble. BEHAVE!"

Brutus instantly backed down. Like a dog with its tail between its legs.

'Brutus got scared by just a few words?' Nolan's curiosity got aroused. 'Let's see who you are...Inspect' Nolan used his skill.

Nolan's eyes widened, and pupils dilated. This was the strongest person he had seen so far. He was even stronger than Nara.

"Harley, this person is strong. Even stronger than Nara," Nolan whispered to Harley.

Harley heard him, but he was too focused on looking at Guard No.3.

Harley's face was full of mixed emotions as he observed the guard. Sadness, happiness, and embarrassment.

"Hmm?" The guard noticed Harley staring at him from behind Gulliver.

"You are..." The guard's eyes widened, and tears appeared in the corner of his eyes. "No," He shook his head regretfully. "He is dead."

'What could make Guard No.3 make such a face?' Gulliver wondered.

However, the guard quickly regained his composure and shifted his gaze back to Gulliver. "Gulliver, follow me to the carriage with the two prisoners." The guard commanded. Though he was a lot smaller than Gulliver in body build, that did not affect his confidence at all.

The guard turned and followed by Brutus, led the way to the carriage. The carriage was just a few meters from Gulliver's house.

It was a luxurious carriage made of white painted wood, pulled by a pair of beautiful white horses. Hung on the top of the carriage, a white flag with a hand-sewed black rose in the center swayed on the gentle wind.

Obviously, this was the top treatment one could receive within the organization. The carriage and the horses looked so luxurious that one could mistake the people riding inside for the Royals.

Gulliver entered the carriage, followed by Nolan and Harley. The carriage had passenger seats on both sides. Actually, the seats were large, to the size that two average size grown adults could comfortably sit on one passenger seat.

However, Gulliver was not your average-sized adult. He alone took a whole seat for himself. Leaving the other to Harley and Nolan.

Brutus wanted to sit inside the carriage, insisting that the prisoners might attempt to escape. But after seeing that there was no space inside the carriage for another man the size of Gulliver, he sat on the driver's seat next to the guard.

Shlack!

The reins sounded, indicating that the guard had started the carriage.

Not long after, the carriage started moving.

A/N: Reins - Reins are horse equipment used to direct a horse or other animal used for riding.

...

They traveled for fifteen minutes before the carriage finally stopped.

Nolan, Harley, and Gulliver got out of the carriage.

They found themselves in front of a lone, two-story tall stone building in ruins. Within a radius of hundred meters from the building, there were no other buildings.

"Let's go inside." The guard said, entering the building.

Everyone followed behind him and entered the building too.

Inside, the building looked even more abandoned than outside. On the outside, only the front door of the building was missing. But inside all the doors of the rooms were broken.

The furniture inside was old and decayed. It was almost unrecognizable what was what.

The wooden stair leading to the second floor was in bad shape too. They looked like just a light step would break the stairs down.

However, looking around, Nolan noticed that except for him and Harley, no one else minded the state of this place.

Guard No.3 continued guiding the way to the upper left corner of the house.

The guard and Brutus cleared the decayed wood in the upper left corner. From below the wood, a metal floor door appeared.

This floor door was the same as the first-floor door leading to the basement in the building that Gulliver sold to Nolan. The building that was now the restaurant.

CreaakkkKK!

The guard pulled the door open.

The heavy metallic sound the door made while opening told Nolan one thing. This door was far heavier than the door in the building Gulliver sold him. No average man could open this door. Not even Nolan himself was sure that he could open the door.

The guard and Brutus led the way down the stairs.

They walked downstairs for a long time before finally arriving at the end of the stairs.

The stairs led to a little empty room with stone walls. There were torches on all four walls, lighting the room.

And in front of the stairs was an iron door leading to the heart of the Black Rose organization.
