Chereads / My Kingdom Building System / Chapter 18 - Old Enemies

Chapter 18 - Old Enemies

"That retard!" Nolan closed the door. "Can't he see the situation? Why doesn't he destroy the wall and let everyone see?"

"What do I do now?" Nolan rubbed his head in anger. "I must exterminate them, but I can't delay the construction of the village anymore."

Nolan sat on the bed.

[Ding]

[Side Quest: Old Enemies]

[Your old enemies are threatening your business, eliminate them]

[Penalty upon failure: 10 minutes electroshock]

[Time limit: None]

[Difficulty: Hard]

[Reward: Carriage full of clothes, 50Exp]

"Good, good." Nolan smiled.

Nolan sat on the bed in silence, waiting for Harley to arrive.

As he was sitting, he remembered all the things that happened since he transmigrated into this world. No matter how hard he thought of it, he couldn't figure out why has he transmigrated.

It's not like he hated it, but what does he need to do in this world? Why has he transmigrated?

"System, what is my purpose of coming into this world?" He decided to ask the system.

[The host needs to build a Kingdom that's not going to be forgotten over time]

"And why do I need to do that?" Nolan asked in confusion. What is the use of such a kingdom?

If a Kingdom falls, then it falls.

If it's already fallen, does it matter if anyone remembers it?

[The host can't receive more information at the moment]

"You helped me enough." Nolan waved his hand. He was not angry that he couldn't obtain more information. After all, when he asked the system, he didn't expect any answers in the first place.

'Wait.' A question that first came to his mind when he received the first allocation points returned.

"System, what is the stat limit a person could reach?"

This was very important. He was unsure, but with the pace at which he was gaining strength, it won't take long before reaching the limits.

[The limit of a stat is 150]

[When every stat reaches 150, then you have reached the limit of the human body]

"H-Hundred fifty." Nolan's eyes widened. He felt a little embarrassed that he thought he could soon reach the limit. "If you combine all stats, it's four hundred fifty. I barely have above fifty if I combine all my stats."

Pam!

The door opened.

Nolan jumped from the bed.

It was Harley and Kelton.

Harley entered first, and Kelton followed behind.

Again, Kelton left the door behind him open.

"Close the fu.cking door!" Nolan screamed.

Kelton immediately obeyed.

"What happened?" Harley asked anxiously.

"We messed up." Nolan rubbed his eyebrows. "We didn't calculate that Rosalia's men could come to our restaurant and run into Layla. Luckily I was here. Otherwise, things might have ended badly."

"What are we going to do?" Harley looked at the men lying on the ground.

"Ahh!" Nolan let out a deep sigh. "I don't know. I thought that breaking their necks would be the best. But now that you are here, I am doubting myself.

I thought that killing their whole group would be the best. But if I do what I think I should do, I might become a heartless monster."

Though Nolan wanted to get the rewards of the quest, he was not willing to become a heartless monster, even if it meant he would have to experience the pain of being electroshocked for 10 minutes.

"Why don't we take them to where you will build the village? They could help in the construction." Kelton, who was quiet all along, said.

"That's a good idea," Harley commented.

"Yeah, but I don't want someone I can't trust to be there. We killed their boss, plus two additional important people, possible candidates for their new boss. They would want to kill us."

"That's also true," Harley said. "Then what do we do?"

"I know." Smile spread across Nolan's face. "Nara would know. We should ask her."

"You are ri..."

"Who's talking about me?" A voice cut Harley mid-way.

The next moment, the door opened, and Nara entered, closing the door behind her.

"I heard what happened." She said as she walked to Harley. "I heard the whole conversation, and I have a solution."

"What is it?" Nolan asked hopefully.

"Not everyone has met Rosalia. Some have never seen her. So you just have to kill those who directly took orders from Rosalia because they are the most loyal. And you could recruit the rest."

"That's it," Nolan exclaimed. "Why didn't I think of it?" He slapped himself.

Nara smiled.

"Harley, I leave those two to you." Nolan pointed at the two men lying on the ground.

"Where are you..." Harley couldn't even finish his sentence.

Nolan had already stormed out of the chamber together with Kelton.

"Kelton, do you need some metal parts for the construction of the village?"

"Yes, I need many metal parts," Kelton replied.

"Ahhh!" Nolan rubbed his head in frustration. "Lead the way."

They walked for twenty minutes and passed through several streets before they arrived at their destination.

"Here it is," Kelton said.

They were in front of a large, two-story stone building with a large wooden plate on the entrance with engraved words "Blacksmith Shop."

"Let's go!" Nolan said and walked into the blacksmith shop.

Clang! Clang!

Ear piercing sounds echoed through the whole building.

The building was spacious.

Dozens of blacksmiths hammered the heated red iron on their anvils.

"It's really hot in here," Nolan commented.

"That's because of the furnaces used to heat the iron. It's normal," Kelton said.

Opposite the entrance, there were stairs leading to the second floor.

Kelton and Nolan went up to the second floor.

The second floor was like a completely different world from the first floor.

On the second floor was just one enormous room with many products exhibited on the walls. Products like: Spears, swords, shields, armor, and so on.

At the end of the room was a table. Behind it was a man, and behind the man was another door.

The man probably worked in the Blacksmith Shop like a salesman.

They walked over to the man.

"How can I help you?" The man asked. He was a middle-aged man.

"I would need..."

Kelton started explaining what and how much he needs. The conversation lasted for about fifteen minutes, and at the end, they left with three large bags full of metal.

In addition to the three bags full with metal parts, Nolan had also bought dozens of shovels, pickaxes and axes. This accounted into five additional bags.

"Sir, that would be seven taels of silver and three hundred seventy-five copper coins." The salesman said.

Nolan was shocked by the amount. Luckily he had taken the money from Harley, otherwise he would have embarrassed himself.

"Here." Nolan took the money out off his sleeve and gave them to the salesman.

Kelton took four bags and Nolan four. Then they walked down the first floor and left the 'Blacksmith Shop'.

It was already late morning.

"Give me the bags," Nolan said.

"N-No need..." Before Kelton could refuse, Nolan grabbed the bags out of his hands.

"'Wha..." Kelton's eyes widened.

The bags disappeared.

"What did you do? Where are the bags?" Kelton asked in shock.

"Sorcery," Nolan replied shortly and continued walking forward.

Kelton didn't ask any further. He knew Nolan would not tell him anything.

...

They were close to the south city gate, so it took them about half an hour to arrive there.

"Where are you going?" The inspection guard asked.

"Dale city," Nolan replied.

"Why do you go there? And when are you going to return?" The guard continued asking.

"Family matters. I should return in a month." Nolan made up a reply again.

"You are free to go." The guard got out of their way.

Before they left the city, Nolan made sure he remembered the guard's face, so when he returns later, he doesn't run at him.

They walked fast, but Nolan was still not satisfied. With this speed, they would arrive at the bottom of the mountain at dusk. Not to mention they have to cross the small mountain.

"Kelton, let's fasten our pace." Nolan said and started running.

"Nolan, please. There is no need" Kelton tried to change Nolan's mind, but seeing that Nolan didn't stop and the distance between them grew larger and larger, Kelton could do nothing else but run.

...

It took them four hours to arrive at the foot of the small mountain.

"AH, AH!" Nolan panted heavily.

Nolan was not in a very bad condition but Kelton, the moment Nolan stopped at the foot of the mountain, he collapsed. "H-ow can yo-u run so fast?" He asked. The air he received was barely enough to prevent him from fainting.

"I...I have slightly...stronger legs." Nolan said panting.

Kelton didn't ask any more questions. He just laid on the ground.

...

They rested for an hour.

"Let's go." Nolan stood up.

"Ahhhh!" Kelton stood up lazily. "Let's go."

He and Nolan started climbing the mountain.

...

It took them two hours to get to the top of the mountain, where they stopped to rest.

They could already see the temporary houses the others built down there.

Nolan didn't want to rest long nor did he let Kelton rest long because there were only one or two hours before the end of the day.

"Let's go." He said after just a fifteen minutes break. "There is only an hour before the sunset. We need to get down there."

"But we just arrived here," Kelton complained.

"Kelton, I ran the same distance as you." Nolan said, a little annoyed. "So please quit complaining and take this."

The three bags with metal parts appeared, and in addition to that, two bags of grain appeared.

"This..." Kelton was speechless. It was his second time seeing this, but it was more shocking than the first time.

"Don't stare. Take two bags with metal parts, and let's go."

Nolan took one bag with metal parts and stacked the two bags of grain on his shoulder.

Naturally, getting down the mountain was easier and faster, so it took them about an hour to go down.

They arrived before the temporary houses at sunset.

"Boss!"
