After becoming the world champion, Ash Ketchum grew up and married his former companion Dawn and they had a two children however one of them was taken from the hospital and has been missing. Their other son Daniel was raised in his mothers home town, Twin Leaf Town in the region of Sinnoh.
After ten years Daniel is allowed to start his own journey like his father did all those years ago.
"Daniel, come on down from your room or your going to be late to the lab for your starter." Says Dawn his mother. Walking down the stairs is a young boy whose around four feet six inches tall. He is wearing a black beanie with a white stripe on it, a reddish black open up jacket with a blue shirt underneath and black cargo pants. When he reaches the end of the stairs he says "Well then I see dad isn't here, but I understand that he has to work hard to keep his title as champion."
His mother sighs and says "He is a busy man but he's actually at the lab and talking with the professor as he is his first rival, anyways do you have all of your things ready to go?" Daniel looks at her and says "Yes I do!" as he shows her his backpack. She looks at him with a smile and says "Well then, you have to get going, the walk to Sandgem town is about a hour long. So I want you to be extremely careful and I wish you the best." As she says this to Dan, he starts to walk out the door.
After walking for about forty five minutes, Dan runs across two people a young man and a young woman bickering amongst themselves. When Dan sees them he says to them " Hey you guys, everything okay?" The two of them them look up at over at him and say at the same time "This one thinks Sandgem town is this way" while each of them is pointing at a different direction. Dan takes a breath in and says "Okay let's calm down, I'm Daniel Ketchum but you can call me Dan. Now then what are your guys names?" The young man looks at Dan and says "Wait did you say Ketchum, as in the world champion Ash Ketchum?! Oh I'm Wayne by the way! Nice to meet you." The young lady looks at him and says "Hello I'm Alexis or you can call me Lexi for short. It is nice to meet you as well Dan, I'm assuming that you are also making your way to Sandgem town?" Dan looks at her and shakes his head agreeing with her.
Pulling out his phone, Dan opens up his map and looks at it saying "Looks like we have to head straight and then we will arrive at Sandgem Town." Wayne clenches his fists while raising his fists and shouts "I knew it was that way!" Both Dan and Lex look at him and sigh. Then they start walking down the path and they have some small talk while getting to know each other.
When they arrive at the lab they see three Pokémon running around and playing. While looking at them they recognize them as the "Tiny Leaf" pokemon Turtwig, the "Chimp" pokemon Chimchar and the "Penguin" pokemon Piplup. After seeing the Pokémon running around for a few minutes they look up and see a young man in a lab coat with light brown and spiky hair. The young man looks at them and says "Ah hello children, I'm Professor Oak. Now then why don't the two of you introduce yourselves and it's good to see you again Daniel." Wayne and Lexi introduce themselves to the professor.
After introducing themselves the professor says "Well then you may decide between the three of you who can choose their starter pokemon since the three of you arrived together." After hearing this Wayne says "I think Dan should get to chose first since if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have made it here." As Lexi hears this they shake their head in agreement.
So Dan walks up to the starter pokemon trio and bends down and says "Well hey you guys, which one of you would like to travel around the region with me?" As the pokemon look at each other, Chimchar walks up to Dan and smiles at him. Seeing this Dan picks him up and says "Well then would you like to have a nickname little guy?" Chimchar smiles and says "Chim-Chimchar!" while shaking his head yes. After a minute of thinking Dan says "How does the name Wukong sound bud?" and Chimchar jumps out of his hands and jumps up and down in excitement. Dan then says "Well then Wukong, I'm Dan Ketchum and I'm looking forward to our journey together!" Wukong looks up at Dan and smiles. The professor walks over to Dan and hands him Wukong's pokeball and Wukong returns to his pokeball.
After that interaction Piplup runs to Wayne while Turtwig runs to Lexi and they decide to choose them as their starter. After they get their pokeballs Dan speaks up and says "I was told that my dad was here, did he already leave?" The Professor looks over at him and says "Yes he was but something came up and he had to go but he did say he will see you once you get your second badge, also here are your Pokédex's and some pokeballs for you to use to catch your own Pokémon, and once you catch and have six Pokémon on your team any other Pokémon you catch will be sent to me and you can call me anywhere and request a transfer of your Pokémon." The three kids thank the professor and take the items and head out.
Once they leave the lab Wayne and Lex say their goodbyes to Dan and say "We will see each other again but we gotta go back to our hometown and they don't care for strangers so how about we meet up in a month or two in Eterna City?" And Dan says "Sure I'll see y'all there then!" And they start to walk their opposite ways with Wayne and Lexi walking towards their hometown while Dan walks towards Jubilife City.
