Chapter 28 - Chapter 27 Wild Little Fairy

What kind of person is Yila, really?

Most people in the empire, and even Yila himself, might not be clear, but his former colleagues or the king he was loyal to might have a partial understanding.

Vera barely understands but can confirm that [Yila is definitely not loyal to the empire]. You could say he looks forward to the empire becoming a strong and equal country in the future, or you could say he is loyal to his friendship with Emperor Yose.

You could even say he is loyal to Isabella because he likes Lolita, but you can never say he is [loyal to the empire], as Vera has heard more than once Yila mention that if the empire ever heads down a terrible path, he would personally bury it.

Since these words are usually said after arguments with nobles, it's also possible they were just said out of anger.

But at the very least, this represents that Yila doesn't have much respect for the empire, and not even much for humanity. In that case, perhaps there really is a chance…to complete [that], if the ultimate [that] can be completed.

Maybe…certainly…definitely...

"..."

"Sage's Stone."

Vera murmured this to herself as she opened her eyes on the bed, awakening from a half-asleep, half-awake contemplation. The deep black mage robe hung loosely, covering barely a small part of her body.

The black robe contrasted with the flawless witch demon body; if this image were to be described as a piece of art, there's no doubt it would be named something like [Black and White].

"..."

What time is it now?

Thinking this, Vera slightly adjusted her mage robe, then snuggled into the blanket. Although winter was almost over, today's weather seemed especially cold.

As a magic profession, since Mana isn't used to enhance the body, compared to a physical profession, they fear the cold, heat, and pain more... But that's just how it is.

A witch demon doesn't need to care for their body.

"Yawn~"

Yawning, Vera stretched out her pale hand from the covers, the bluish ring on her finger glimmered, and she lazily chanted, "Servants born from knots, the creation of wondrous wisps."

With the gentle incantation, the ghostly blue Mana flowed from the ring like dancing fireflies, gradually sketching shapes in the air, seemingly humanoid.

And the chant wasn't over yet.

With words as a trigger, awaken the thousands of words in the mind, connect with the world's barrier, sketching the model of the spell, using one's own magic power as a primer, exchange for the magic power flowing in the Mana network constructed by the World Tree to fill it.

"Fantasy, downfall, silence, mold, elevation, immortality, consciousness, consciousness, consciousness, consciousness, consciousness, abandoning the mother of life, denying the branch of soul, the monster born for me!"

With the transmission of the last syllable, the spell was released—[Arcane Servant]

As the sketched magic power framework was filled, three humanoid figures like Mr. Lime appeared in Vera's room... Though these were made of Mana and not mucus like Mr. Lime, their faces were indistinguishable.

These arcane servants moved with Vera's intentions, without the need for verbal commands, they began to act voluntarily, helping Vera sit up, arrange her clothes, wash, and move.

And Vera didn't need to do anything, just laying limply like mud under the service of the arcane servants. This is a mage... Or rather, this is the court magic that can wield magic power wantonly.

"Vera, you always like to overuse magic."

Yila's voice came from behind, and Vera, supported and carried by the arcane servants, didn't look like a noble young lady, but rather like a thief being escorted for trial by villagers (arcane servants) after stealing.

This lazy, powerless demeanor, as if being so scared that her legs went soft.

"What overuse, I'm just using magic normally, okay?"

Replying casually, Vera woke up a bit, she waved her hand signaling the arcane servants to put her down, then tapped her ring, dismissing them. She said, "Since I can make it easy, of course, I'll take it easy."

"Hmph…"

Yila chuckled softly, the little fairy sitting on his shoulder curiously watching Vera and Yila conversing, feeling like the two of them have an unusually good relationship... Indeed, since the little fairies weren't around that day, they didn't know Vera and Yila were old acquaintances.

"Aren't you eating breakfast? I remember you once said if people don't eat breakfast, it leads to...what was it again?"

As Vera said this, she couldn't quite recall exactly what Yila said at that time, she said, "Something about grinding in the stomach, but now I'm a witch demon, so no worries."

To this, Yila countered with, "How do you know I didn't eat breakfast?"

Vera: "Eh? Did you eat?"

Yila: "Actually, no."

"..."

Vera was at a loss for words, she looked at the little fairy on Yila's shoulder, seemingly thinking of something, asking Yila, "Did the little fairy report something, so now you're going to find the Demon King? Is it something urgent?"

"Mhm, you guessed right."

Yila nodded, replacing the little fairy who was about to speak, said, "This little fairy said she encountered a wild fairy fleeing this morning, seemingly living in the forest near the Demon King Territory."

"It seems Satan Ye hasn't woken up yet, so the little fairy spoke to me first, the original group of wild fairies has been overtaken and enslaved by a swarm of giant bees, so they're seeking help from the Demon King Territory. This is undoubtedly a good thing."

Indeed, without Yila's explanation, Vera could understand this point, though there's a tinge of [Great, wild fairies are in danger!] of schadenfreude suspicion, but indeed, it is a good thing.

The giant bees enslaved the wild fairies, so the little fairies came seeking help, when the Demon King Territory takes care of the bees, it will be the Demon King Territory's turn to enslave the little fairies, as the Demon King Territory currently lacks labor.

Though it sounds like a [out of the wolf's den into the tiger's mouth] scenario, one must admit... Being a slave (monster) under the Demon King's hand is happier than being a civilian in many places.

By the way, logically speaking, besides the leaders qualified to participate in the morning assembly in the Demon King Castle, all residents of the Demon King Territory are considered the Demon King's personal property.

So, everyone is a slave.

"Quick, quick, quick!"

"Rescue the companions!"

Using Yila as a mount, the palm-sized little elf commanded while sitting on Yila's shoulder, looking quite happy. She truly liked this unique human from the bottom of her heart.

Yila seems different from all humans.
