Book I Chapter 18
…
What she is looking for right now, is an ancient text. These types of text are something that many of the scribes dreaded copying.
The reason for this is the difficulty of the writing and the accuracy of the copy.
If the scribe could not copy the text by 80% or above, then the copied book will be utterly useless to the ones who will be using it.
So these texts are a challenge, and most of those that ask for a copy of these texts are usually the elders or the core disciples.
Hyuna did not have time to think as she began to read and analyze the text before her.
After looking and reading for a while, she suddenly takes her pen and begins writing. However, as soon as the ink blotted on the paper, she noticed that there is actually a big difference. This is because of the shape of the brush.
"Hmm… These texts…" she muttered as she analyzes things.
"These texts are not supposed to be written using a brush." She concluded.
She then walks to the librarian.
"Umm… Master Seo…" but before Hyuna could say something an annoyed-sounding voice interrupted her.
"Look, you can do whatever you wanted in there just don't break anything, okay?" then Master Seo went back to reading the book in her hand.
Hyuna felt a bit confused and at the same time happy.
"Do whatever I want…" she muttered as she walks away.
Master Seo smirks while shaking her head then heaved a deep sigh and continues reading.
But if one tries to look closer, the thing she is reading is actually not a cultivation manual. In the middle of the book, there is a small book filled with simple texts.
Master Seo would smile every now and then as she absorbed herself in the story she is reading.
Hyuna takes an empty bamboo scroll and then a blade pen.
When Mok Namgi saw this, he frowned for a bit but did not bother with her.
She did not mind the people around her and began etching the text on the bamboo scroll.
It did not take long before she could feel her fingers getting numb.
"Hmm… I am using the wrong method…" she muttered as she looks at her work.
She suddenly shifted her position and then changes the direction of the bamboo scroll.
After 5 tries, she finally found the right way to copy the text.
It did not take long for Hyuna to finally be able to copy an ancient text.
Suddenly, a flash of light appears which startled everyone inside the library.
Everyone stopped their work and looks in Hyuna's direction.
"What… What happened?" asked Mok Namgi worriedly.
Hyuna shrugged her shoulders as she too is not aware of what just happened.
But before she could say something, the figure of Master Seo is already standing beside Hyuna while looking at her from behind.
From Master Seo's position, she could see the writings etched on the bamboo scroll, but not only that. She could also feel the spirit Qi fluctuating from the scroll.
She frowned while looking at Hyuna and then at the bamboo scroll.
"Wu Jin… Follow me… now…" she said while showing that cold expression on her face.
Hyuna felt a bit worried but still followed behind Master Seo who walks quickly and enters the upper floor of the library.
They then walked to a particular room and Master Seo closes it quickly.
"Sit down…" she pointed at the chair.
Hyuna is now feeling afraid as she nervously sits down on the chair.
Master Seo takes out a few mirrors and then positioned them facing Hyuna's direction.
5 minutes later…
Master Heo frowned as if she is not contented with what she has discovered.
"How were you able to do that?" she suddenly asked.
"Do… Do what Master Seo?" Hyun asked worriedly.
"You were able to write an exact copy of an original text… of an ancient book." She said with a frown.
"This should not be happening… How could a mere mortal replicate such effect…" she muttered.
Then her eyes glinted as she drags Hyuna to the books on the upper floor.
She floated up and then grabs a book from a shelf with chains on it.
After unlocking the chains, she took the book down and lays it on the table.
"Could you look at this…" she asked.
Hyuna felt a bit confused and worried, but she did not deny the request.
She carefully checked the book and then looks at how it was written. It took her a while before she determined what kind of tools were used to write the book.
"Umm… Master… Master Seo… I… I cannot copy this book…" Hyuna said straightforwardly.
"Why is that?" Seo Yebin asked with a frown.
"The tool used to write this book… I think… it's a blade. But… the one, who copied it, uses a knife to write the book… So…"
"How did you know that it is originally written using a sword?"
Hyuna felt a bit perplexed as she did not know how to explain it.
She instead stands up and then looks at the wall.
"If you strike this rock like this… you will produce the same line…" she said while pointing at the stone corner.
Seo Yebin frowned but still did as Hyuna said.
When she saw the chip on the rock and compares it to the text, she immediately discovered the difference.
"Hmm… That is why I could not perfect this skill… The original text was removed from here… I wonder where it was…" she muttered.
But then suddenly, her expression changes as she quickly jumps down the ledge.
As she landed slowly, she quickly headed to the table where the bamboo scroll was.
When she saw that it is already gone, her expression darkened.
"Too late…" she muttered while gritting her teeth.
She then walked back up and drags Hyuna inside the room.
"From now on… You will not transcribe anything… You can only transcribe when I tell you… Okay?" she said while heaving a deep sigh.
"I don't know if your talent is a blessing or a curse… but if those people know of this…" she could not help but shake her head.
She then showed a slight smile on her face.
"Little Jin… Can you keep a secret for me?" she suddenly asked.
Hyuna felt a bit confused as the librarian who is always lazy and grumpy would suddenly have a soft approach toward her.
"I…" before Seo Yebin could say anything she stopped herself.
"No… It's okay… I'm just a little emotional right now… You can go now…" she said while patting Hyuna's shoulder.
As Hyuna walks out of the room, Seo Yebin's expression turns to worry, and then determination.
"Is this coincidence or providence… How could this be happening? What really is your plan… dear sister…" she muttered as she closes her eyes feeling a bit tired.
…
Hyuna did not know what is happening, so she just walked down and continue stacking the books.
It was already afternoon when she finishes and she felt excited when she went home that night.
Il Kwan truly did not visit her today.
"He really did go out…" she muttered feeling at a loss and a bit annoyed.
As she enters the room, she locked the door and barred the windows. She then carefully takes out a few stones from her pocket and lays them on the table.
If one observes the stones they do not show anything. They did not even produce any spirit Qi ripples.
But as she began arranging them in order, then they began to produce a light Qi ripple.
Hyuna, showed a faint smile on her face as she prick her index finger with her knife and drop her blood on the stone at the center.
As soon as she did, all of the gathered stones suddenly produces green light and merges in the center, then a flow of Qi coming from the center stone slowly floated towards Hyuna's head.
As the green Qi smoke made contact with her head, Hyuna closes her eyes.
Just within a few seconds, a huge amount of information began to enter her head which slowly fills the void.
The information began to form into books inside that void just like what her mother did to her mind before leaving.
As she looks at the books, Hyuna frowned as she knew that there are a lot of errors in them.
"No… this is not perfect… I need to change a lot of things…" she muttered then cuts the connection off and removes those books inside her head.
She stayed out all night and still woke up early in the morning to do her daily exercise. Then she decided to go to her aunt's music lesson early to practice.
It was already around 1 pm when she reported to the library.
"I thought you will never come?" Seo Yebin asked when she saw the figure of Hyuna.
"Sorry Master… I had a lot of schedules today… except for my real schedule to visit the library… I only have 1 pm to nighttime for the rest of the week." She explained.
Seo Yebin did not say anything and just waves her hand.
"Go… go… But remember no… Trans…" before she could finish her words, she saw a man with a sword-like eyebrow entering the library.
The man's hair is a mix of silver and black, and he has a black mustache but a silver beard up to his collarbone.
When the elder enters, he directly walked toward Seo Yebin.
"What kind of trouble is this guy going to do now…" she grumbled while waving for Hyuna to leave.
