Book I Chapter 11
…
Ji Eun is an Inner Sect disciple of the Urokai sect. He is considered by many as one of the geniuses of the sect.
At the mere age of 15, he has already reached the Dantian Condensing stage which has qualified him to enter the Inner Sect discipleship.
He has a mysterious background that baffles a lot of the sect's juniors and elders.
But no one said anything as his strength and talent is clear for everyone to see.
Right now, he is looking at an incredulous scene that has baffled him thoroughly.
How could a mere mortal boy which looks like only a 13-year-old teen could actually kill a fierce beast?
Although the beast is already wounded, it does not make sense.
He jumps down from his hiding spot up above the tree and checked the condition of the young boy.
"He is still alive…" he muttered and quickly checked the boy's wound.
As he looks at the face of the young boy, he was a bit stunned as the young boy actually has a face of a girl. In fact, looking at his face, he could consider him to be far more beautiful than most of the sisters she have seen or met in the sect.
If this boy is a girl, then she could be considered one of the top ten beauties of the sect.
Upon thinking up to this point, he suddenly shook his head and then quickly checked the wound on his body.
As he opened his robe, he could see traces of bruising.
"He has some broken ribs…" he muttered as he takes out a pill from his pocket.
He was about to feed it to the boy when he realized that the boy is a mortal. He quickly stopped and immediately sweated.
If he feed the whole pill to this boy, then it would be he who would kill this person.
He carefully pinches a small amount of the pill, and then carefully opened the mouth of the young boy.
He felt a bit awkward as the young boy truly looks… beautiful.
After closing the young boy's mouth, he checked the battle and did not notice anything weird.
He just waves his hand and the whole corpse of the wolf disappears.
…
"Mother… Mother…" Wu Hyuna called as she runs through the dark void.
"Mother! I did it! I've used what you taught me and defeated an enemy…" she called out.
But no one replied as she stares at the void.
She thought that she could finally see her mother after dying at the hands of the beast.
But she did not know where she is right now as all she could see is the darkness.
"Wake up!" an unknown voice suddenly enters her ears which forces her to be jolted into awakening.
Hyuna abruptly opened her eyes and noticed that she is in a familiar room.
She suddenly noticed three figures inside the room… Il Kwan, who has a worried look in his eyes, Madam Il, who is also showing concern, and Master Il San Joon who looks a bit calm.
But it seems that after seeing that she has woken up, the three people's expressions turned a bit complicated.
"How are you feeling?" asked Madam Il as she caresses her hand.
"I'm doing fine… Madam… I mean aunty." Hyuna heaved a sigh of relief as she knew that she did not die this time.
"You were too reckless, Junior Jin… Why did you go out there without me?" Il Kwan suddenly scolded but one could see the worry in his eyes.
Pak!!!
Suddenly the sound of someone's head getting smacked could be heard inside the room.
"You… So you are the reason why Little Ji could go out of the sect without anyone noticing…" Il San Joon berated his naughty son.
"Ow… Father… if you hit me like this, I would turn dumb you know…" Il Kwan complained while rubbing the back of his head.
"Dumb? You… you truly lead Little Jin astray…" Il San Joon felt helpless toward his son.
Right now, he is feeling a bit conflicted.
When he took in this young boy, he did not expect anything from him.
He just took him in because his wife took a liking to the young boy.
But when he discovered that the young boy, though a mere mortal, could actually be so talented, he thought that his wife truly has an eye for talent.
He heard from old Sung that the old man wanted to visit Wu Jin and accept him as his disciple. Of course, he immediately feels suspicious of the motive of the old crafty guy.
How could he let the little guy whom he already considered his adoptive son, be taken away by that crafty fellow?
He knew of the immense talent of Wu Jin. Though a mortal, he is able to help others, especially the female disciples, awaken their perspective on musical instruments.
That is something that his wife has been trying to do for years and only a few manage to comprehend the secret of the sound technique.
But ever since the young fellow joined her classes, many began to be enlightened. And that is all because of this little guy.
"Uncle… Don't smack him too hard… he might truly become a fool…" Hyuna said with a smirk.
"Junior Jin… you…" Il Kwan showed an offended and sad expression.
But he knew that this little friend of his is already fine.
According to what he heard, the number one genius of the inner sect, Ji Eun actually helped his best friend and gives him some recovery pills.
So he felt assured and happy at the same time.
"Let's hear it… Why did you go out?" this time Mi Jin-ah asked.
She is still a bit worried about what has happened, but she also could not almost believe that Wu Jin has actually killed a fierce beast.
If he is not a cultivator, then how could he do that?
"I… I just wanted to practice carving some words on stones… So I tried going out… as... as I cannot touch any of the stones or walls in the sect." Hyuna reasoned while lowering her head.
"One may come and go. The season begins and ends. Life and death flow." Il San Joon suddenly recites.
He could feel a hint of melancholy in those words, as each word and symbol in those words invokes a feeling of sadness and deep memory in his heart.
He even waves his hand and wrote the same text in the air which the other two in the room also reads.
"Little Jin… did… did you write such words?" Min Jin-ah asked feeling some deep emotion in her heart.
She could not help but hug the young boy before her.
She knew that Wu Jin is just a mortal and his life is not like theirs. But with such a talent, he could give more to the world than they could imagine as long as he develops further.
"Well, such words have truly invoked the curiosity of many… that location is now being protected as many of the outer sect disciples would go there and try to analyze your words." Il San Joon said with a smile.
Rumors even said that some of them have some advancement in their understanding of their technique while reading and analyzing how those texts were written.
As long as one observes it a little longer one can find something within those texts that could help them realize something in their cultivation technique.
"Plus, that little guy… Ji Eun has actually recommended you to be a scribe for the sect… That means you can enter the Inner Sect…" Il San Joon said with a slightly crafty smile on his face.
At this time, when he recalled how that invitation was sent, he felt a bit proud of himself.
How could he not feel proud that his adopted son was accepted as a scribe?
It is known in the sect that mortals who are accepted as a scribe are those that are truly intelligent and has the ability to think deeply.
They are accepted in the Inner Sect as a scribe and would be permitted to enter the Inner Sect library because they are just mere mortals.
Once they enter the library, they could not do anything inside or even take out any of the books without them suffering from the strong backlash of the Qi formation inside the library.
That is why only mortal scribes can come and go in the library without the sect worrying that they would do anything inside it.
Plus, it would be a great honor to be able to enter the Inner Sect which is also a dream for Il Kwan.
Right now, he is showing a complicated look on his face.
"Little Junior brother Jin… We are best friends, right?" he suddenly said as he sits down beside the bed.
"Once you're inside the sect's library… maybe… maybe you can get me a copy of an inner sect skill or two…" he said with a wink.
"You little brat!" Il San Joon suddenly rages as he steps forward.
"Do you want Little Jin to be in trouble?! What kind of brother are you?" he berated.
"I'm just kidding, father!" Il Kwan said while covering the back of his head.
"Stop it you two… Let's leave and let Little Jin rest… tomorrow, someone will take you to the Inner sect library… Don't worry too much okay?" Min Ji-ah said while patting Hyuna's head.
Actually, after staying in this place for a while, she has felt and has already considered Madam Il as her mother. Though there is no formality, she knew that the family has considered her as their adoptive son.
She knew of such a thing as many disciples were talking about it as she grows up.
She could not help but try to think of the reason why that unknown person recommended her as a scribe.
She could feel that someone is watching her at that time, but she thought that it was the beast.
Luckily for her, she did not use any rune spells. If she did, then she would have already been discovered.
But of course, the rune spells she knew are only weak ones.
She then suddenly recalled the teachings of her mother.
