Another day in the life. I'm walking down the hall heading for my locker. I wouldn't call myself antisocial, maybe more along the line of anxiety ridden. As I walk I notice many sideways glances. I say nothing. All I can think about is what they might be thinking. Perhaps thatI'm under dressed. I'm more of a t-short and jeans kind of girl.Maybe that my walk looks too intense. I've been told a few times that I walk like I'm on a runway. What ever it is that they might be thinking. I make it to my locker in record time. I'm rummaging through, looking for my calculus books, when my sister Amy pushes my locker door into my face.
"Ouch! Thanks for that Aims!" I shout.
She snickers. "Well you left yourself wide open. What else can you expect from a mischievous older sister."
I laugh and huff. "Older my ass!" We don't actually know what time I was born. When I was a baby I was dropped on our parents doorstep with a note that read "Her name is Valentina. She was born today. Please take care of her." With the date. Amy's parents figured someone at the hospital must have seen how much they loved her when they gave birth to her and decided that they would love there baby also. So they followed them home and dropped me off. I can't complain to much I got a best friend and sister out of it.
"Hello!!!! Earth to Val!!! Amy sais while snapping her fingers in front of my face. Your doing that all up in your thoughts thing again."
"Sorry. Just thinking about this test. Think it's going to be a hard one?"
"Well we will never find out if we don't get a move on." She said while interlocking our arms.
The test was pretty hard. Had me chewing on my pencil and twirling my hair which is my tell tail sign that I'm thinking away. I'm not the type to shy away from a challenge though, and I walked away confident that I passed so I guess that's better then some could say.
Finally lunch time! I've always had a healthy appetite so I look forward to every meal. Me and Amy walk into the cafeteria and take our usual spot by the large window. I take out my sandwich and my book and start reading away oblivious to my surroundings. Amy is going on about the test while I half listen looking up every now and again to feign interest. I'm reading about peck systems this week. Every week I chose a new topic to read about, sometimes design, construction, outdoors, I like to learn about how to do all different types of things. Amy sais their is no way my brain can retain all the information I put in it on a daily basis but I love to learn. It's much better then gossiping or waisting time on useless introductory conversations with strangers.
Amy takes in a large breath and grabs my hand. I look up from my book surprised by the intense reaction. Her face is all kinds of goofy with a slight red blush. She leans over and whispers "Val I think he is my mate."
Amy is a werewolf. So are our parents. I've known about the werewolf thing since we were kids. Our parents chose to tell me early on knowing it would be easier for me to know from the start then to find out later on. For a while we thought maybe I would be too and that's why her family was chosen as a home for me. When my eighteenth birthday came and went last year we realized that wasn't the case.
Amy stands up. She is locking eyes with a six foot two, dirty blond haired guy with two day old stubble and dark blue eyes. He is gorgeous. He was just walking into the cafeteria with a group of guys when he stopped and is looking straight at Amy. They all come walking over to us and stop at our table.
He can't take his eyes off Amy. He murmurs "Mate."
Amys eyes never fluter and she utters the same words. "Mate." They reach their hands out to touch each other and they both looks stunned and exited at the sensation.
He introduced himself first. "I'm Alec. Beta of thorn burn pack."
"Amy." She sais breathlessly as she blushes even further.
He takes her and and kisses it. "Lovely to meet you little mate"
He looks over at me "May I have some time alone with my, hum, Amy?"
Amy looks at me and then back at him and says "She knows about us" to make it clear in in the know about the whole werewolf thing. He looks genuinely surprised but says nothing. Amy looks at my as if to say go on I'm fine. I take the hint and back up my stuff and walk away. I sit at another table on the other side of the cafeteria. I can't help but steal a few glances their way. They kind of look perfect together. Amy is a tall blond with curly hair, soft facial features, gorgeous blue eyes, long legs, big boobs, a great fashion since, and overall nice curves. They look like the perfect couple. I steal one last look and Amy peers over at me as if the say I'm fine don't worry. So I look down at my book and start eating my sandwich while I alow my brain to enter into the world of plumbing peck systems. I steal one more look and can't help but think. Everything is about to change.
