Daniel woke the next day with a huge grin on his face.He slid the covers to the side and walked to the window.
The snow had stopped falling as the white coating on surfaces were gradually melting.Normally,he'd be sad that the snow was melting ,but he had something else to be happy about:The outing with Tara and her mom.Tara had already sent the details.He was to meet them at the amusement park at 10 Am.She also sent a "Don't be late" text with it.
"9 o'clock" He said as he glanced at his alarm clock.He hurriedly showered and made sure to dress well before leaving the house.
"There you are! I said 10 O'clock" Tara shouted as she saw Daniel leave the taxi."You're twenty minutes late. Why?"
"Uhm The taxi driver got the directions wrong" Daniel said,looking elsewhere.The truth was that he spent a lot of time deciding what to wear.
"How is that even possible?" Tara said, obviously still mad.
"Relax dear.We just got here about five minutes ago" Joyce said."Good morning,Daniel.You look really handsome today"
"Thank you and good morning to you too" He said, lightly bowing his head.
"What a sweet,respectful boy" Joyce thought.
"Are we all ready?" Tara asked,glaring at Daniel.
"Yes" Daniel replied as Joyce and Tara walked ahead of him.
"She really looks good in everything" Daniel thought as he looked at Tara.She wore a huge hoodie with matching joggers and that was it.She didn't wear makeup or earrings,but she was stunning.
"What are you staring at?! Hurry!" Tara said to Daniel.
"Right" Daniel said, quickening his pace.
They entered a small restaurant next to all the rides to have breakfast and discuss.
"So what's your plan" Joyce asked Tara.
"We go on all the rides" Tara said simply.
"That's nice ,but you know I can't go on really tall rides" Joyce said frowningly.
"Why?" Daniel asked
"She has a massive fear of heights" Tara laughed.
"Ok,massive might be going too far.I think it's a really normal thing to be scared of falling to your death" Joyce explained."Don't you agree,Daniel?"
"Yes" Daniel said curtly.Even though he had fun the previous day,he still couldn't relate with them on a personal level.
"How about we all ride the not so tall rides together,and I and Daniel go on the really tall ones" Tara offered.
"Alright! That sounds nice" Joyce agreed.
After some seconds,Joyce and Tara glanced at Daniel.
"What?" Daniel asked.
"Is it alright with you?" Joyce asked
"Yeah,it's fine" Daniel replied.He didn't know he had a say in the matter.
"Let's go" Tara rose excitedly as she left the restaurant.
"So full of energy" Joyce murmured.
"Everything okay?" Joyce asked Daniel.
"Yeah, everything's fine." Daniel replied as they headed to their first ride.
The first five rides were mild and gave an avenue for them to talk about different topics.
"Ok mum.We've gone on the boring ones.It's time for the thrillers.Bye" Tara said , turning to the ferris wheel.
"Is she always this excited" Daniel asked
"Not really.I don't know what's gotten into her" Joyce said smilingly."keep an eye on her"
"Will do ma'am" Daniel replied as he accompanied Tara.
"She said you should keep an eye on me" Tara guessed.
"Yeah" Daniel replied as they entered a carriage in the wheel.
"Typical" Tara muttered,glancing out the carriage.
"Is there something wrong?" Daniel said,noticing her expression changed.
"Nothing.Let's just enjoy the ride" Tara said after the ride started."Hey! Isn't that Leyla and maximus" Tara pointed at the carriage in front of theirs.
She didn't want to shout ,so she called Leyla on her phone.
"Hey" Leyla said after answering.
"Look behind" Tara said.
"Ok" Leyla said,glancing back.
"Hey!" Tara waved."is that Maxim?"
"Yeah" Leyla grinned."Maxim, wave"
"Hello" Maxim said.
"We'll talk after the ride" Leyla said to Tara.
"Sure" Tara replied.
When Leyla's carriage reached the top,She kissed Maxim passionately.
Tara felt weird as she saw them locking lips.She glanced at Daniel.
"What?" Daniel said.
"Ugh" Tara sighed deeply."Never mind"
At this point,she didn't know what she wanted.
Daniel didn't know what he did wrong.It seemed like she woke up on the wrong side of bed.
"Did I do anything wrong?" Daniel said after they got out of the carriage.
"No.Why would you think that?"
"Because you have an angry face" Daniel said,not thinking before he said it.
"Angry face?"
"Yeah.I feel like you're mad at me or I did something I wasn't supposed to" He replied as they sat on a bench facing the wheel.
"Nothing.Just give me a moment" Tara said as she left him on the bench.
"What's wrong with me? Why am I mad at him?" Tara thought as she walked away.
"Hey" Leyla called."What's wrong?"
"I don't know" Tara said
"Come on.Talk to me" Leyla said,placing a hand on Leyla's shoulder.
"I feel weird" Tara said as she told Leyla what happened on the ride.
"I don't see the problem" Leyla frowned after Tara finished.
"That's the problem" Tara sighed exasperatedly.
"The problem is that you don't know the problem?" Leyla frowned."I think you like him" She said smirkingly.
"Daniel? No! Definitely not" Tara said,shaking her head.
"Ok" Leyla said with the smirk still on her face."We find love in strange places.That's the beauty of it"
"What does that even mean?" Tara frowned.
"You'll find out soon enough.I'll text you" Leyla said,gently patting Tara's shoulder before leaving.
"What just happened?" Tara said, watching Leyla leave."I should probably go apologize to him.It's not his fault after all"
She headed back to the bench but didn't find him.
"Damn" Tara cursed,looking left and right for him.
She reckoned he went to meet her mom ,so Tara went back to the restaurant.
"So early?! I thought you guys would take the whole day" Joyce commented as Tara sat next to her.
"Where's Daniel?" Tara asked
"I don't know.Aren't you supposed to be with him?"
"I left him for a while and now I can't find him" Tara replied.
"Have you tried calling him?"
"Why didn't I think of that" Tara muttered.
