I summoned up all the courage and spoke."You should be scared.In fact,that should be your worst nightmare.You see my parents are well known figures in this city.My dad just happens to be the chief of police and my mum.... she's a mean ass judge so if I see his face and you make the mistake of leaving me alive.Then,your life is over because I will make sure your ass dies in jail".My palms were sweaty and I was starting to think my words had no effect on him but I had to press on.
"Your accomplices aren't safe either.I imagine you all don't know the implications of being caught with a firearm.Not to mention,your buddy fired it. That's a really long time in jail,I'm talking twenty five to life".I continued
Even though their faces were covered,I felt they were scared.Their hands were shaking like it suddenly dropped fifty degrees.
"Yo Clay,is she really a cop's daughter".A masked guy turned to him
"How the hell am I to know that". Clay replied.It was obvious my words had an effect on him
"I'd listen if I were you".Bruce said
"Same here". Joey's hands were still wrapped round the guy's throat.
"As if!".Chris laughed heartily.He swiftly brought out a knife and lunged at the closest person which was Chris
My heart stopped and for a moment I thought he stabbed Chris.
"I think it's time you left".Eddie held clay's hand.I had no idea when he left my side
"Well, well,I see you've got some balls Edward Johnson".Chris chuckled
For some reason,he still had that wicked smirk planted on his face.
"Just give up dude".Julian recovered."The tables have turned.Your buddies are on the floor".
"You guys have no idea what's going on,do you?". Clay growled."Every single person here has a weapon and we know how to use it".
As soon as he said that,the guy bruce punched started woke up.
"Artem, kill her".Clay faced the guy that just woke up
"You sure?".Artem asked nervously
"Of course".Clay replied and Artem pointed the gun at me.Eddie wasn't by my side and I had no one to protect me.
"Do the same".Artem turned to his accomplice.
The accomplice pointed it at joey.
"Hey,If you kill me, I'ma kill him too".Joey tightened his hands round the guy's neck.
Eddie was still holding clay's knife though I doubt there was any force behind it.Julian looked a little shocked that someone tried to kill him.I wanted to yell."Get over it!" but I was cautious of the gun pointing at my head.
My mind went into overdrive again.Worst case scenario would be our deaths and my parents would be so devastated.
"Hey,if you kill us you'd be all over the news".Eddie reasoned
"No one would know".Clay chuckled."We're wearing masks idiot,besides I'm gonna make sure you all die"
I swallowed a huge gulp of saliva.Waking up this morning,I had no idea this was what I'd face
"Time to die".Clay brought out another knife.
He moved to stab Eddie but I heard a familiar sound—A police siren
"Which one of you called the cops".Clay pointed the knife at me."It was you, wasn't it"
"No,I swear it"
"It's getting louder".I commented.It sounded like it was getting closer
"We gotta make a run".Clay rallied his buddies.
"Are you sure".Artem said."We can just kill them and be done with it,The cops won't be here for a while"
"You've got a point".Clay said after thinking about it for a while."Let's kill them then get out of here"
"Freeze!".A macho voice came from around the corner.
Immediately they heard it,they turned tail and ran.
We couldn't see the officer's face because he was around the corner.We just knew that's where the voice came from.
Bruce ran around the corner to see the officer."Thank you —"
"Daniel martinelli?".Bruce stared at him.He was holding a phone and speaker in his hand."What are you doing here?".Bruce asked
He glanced down and got his answer."It was you?"
Daniel nodded his head meekly.He had no idea what compelled him to go back and help.
"Bruce".I called out.
He was supposed to be back by now.
"I bet he's telling the officer something stupid" Joey said."Let's go"
Joey turned in the direction bruce went.
"Daniel?".I called out the moment I saw him."What are you doing here?"
"He was the one who saved us". Bruce pointed to the phone and speakers.
"Thank you—".I started but Julian cut me off."We don't need some famously single brat saving our asses. We're fine on our own"
I pulled Eddie aside."What the hell is going on? Aren't we supposed to be thanking him?"
"Hell no" Eddie replied."Tara I told you about this.We don't interact with him"
"But he saved us"
"We're grateful but he might start thinking he's part of us.So we want to cut him off before he starts getting close"
"He's not like that".I replied.I couldn't say we were friends but I was positive I knew the type of guy he was.
"How do you know?".Eddie asked.I had no answer to his question.
"I just wanted to help.I didn't expect any thanks".Daniel said before he turned
"Wait".I called out."Thank you".I said truthfully.He gave a soft smile before leaving.
"Phew,that was intense".Chris collapsed to the ground."Having a gun pointed to your head is no joke"
"Not at all".Bruce agreed and we all sat there in silence thinking about what just happened.
"I still don't get it.The least you could say was thank you".I turned to Julian
"I don't want him getting wrong ideas". Julian replied
They all seemed so content with their decision.
"Hmph".I pouted as I stood to go home.
"Where—"
"I'm going home".My voice came out a little harsher than usual.
