The Storm Empire isn't to be trifled in terms of size as it was actually divided into twelve regions, each being ruled by one of the twelve great clans that obeyed the Imperial family directly.
The Central Storm Region was the most prosperous region among the twelve, and that's for the sole reason that it possessed a few advantages over the other regions.
First is the fact that they are linked by marriage to the empire with more than one of their offspring, which gives them a better say in a lot of matters using that connection.
The second reason was that they were the closest to where the Imperial Academy was located.
Thus, no matter how many other clans tried to dethrone them, create problems for their economy, or attempt to ambush their powerhouses that were the main force of their clan's strength, no one would be willing or even dare to make a move.
