Now, he was in Canada, given a room to share Josh as both were still a student of the same class. He had came out of his hostel one day and had locked the door from outside. Josh, his roommate wasn't around so he had no option than to lock the door from outside.
Facing the new world, he had considered Canada as one of the best country in the whole world. He now realised it is far more better than Nigeria since he had come from the ghetto side of Nigeria.
After locking the door and as he tried moving out, he saw at a distance two guys; Gabriel and Richard trying to catch a lady. He understood immediately that these guys had no good intention with this girl being chased by them so je ran after them as they continued to run after the girl.
Within a short period of time,, he was able to get in line with the boys. "Hello" he pulled Richard from the back. "Why are you chasing her."
Not minding him, Richard gave him a punch in the nose and continued to run after the girl. This annoyed James a lot that he kicked Richard so hard from the back which made him fall flat on the floor. Gabriel and the girl he was chasing turned back at the same time in surprise.
"Who are you man?"Gabriel manahed to catch his breath.
"Hello, James is my name." James introduced himself bringing his hand forward for an handshake.
Surprisingly, Gabriel accepted his handshake and looked at Richard who was still lying in pain on the floor at the same time.
"Don't mind that guy." James said after noticing Gabriel who kept looking at Richard. "I asked him a question and he refused to answer me."
"What was the question you asked him" Gabriel asked in confusion.
"My question was; why were you chasing this girl?"
Angrily, without answering the question thrown at him, he reached forward to hit James with his elbow but James dodged it and kicked Gabriel so hard in the groin. Richard soon gained his strength again, he stood up and threw a punnch at James again in the face. It seems the guy, Richard was also good at boxing. He and James continued to exchange blows and Gabriel soon joined in. James tried his best with his karate skills and got both Gabriel and Richard down. He then pull the girl by the hand and ran away with the girl.
"Why can't you run away when you saw me hitting the guys?" James threw a question at the girl when they got to the girl's hostel
"You were fighting for me, right? So, why should I run away when I don't know what your lock would be. What if they were able to overcome you? Should you die for me when I that you were fighting for had flee?"
"Yeah! You have your point. But why the guys chasing you?"
"I'm pretty, don't I? The guys work for David who happens to be the one and only don in this campus. David alias Davido had seen me one day when I was coming back from the back where I'd gone to withdraw the money sent to me by my parents. He had wooed me that day and I rejected him. That's why, ever since then, he and his guys had been trying to catch me."
"When next you see him, tell him you have a boyfriend already."
"But I don't have any."
"Can't you lie about me being your boyfriend?"
"Oh! That's true. But he won't believe me."
"Why?"
"He will wonder why I, being a white girl had fallen in love with a black guy when I've not been able to fall in love with the whites like me"
"Does that matter?"
"Hmn, okay. But he needs to see you around me everytime if he needs to believe that."
"Then, we can be friends if you don't mind. I mean just friends, strolling out everyday alongside with each other, and a lot more."
"A lot more like....?"
"Hmn, just friendship, nothing more."
"Are you asking me out because you've saved me?"
"If I didn't save you today, someone else might have. I'm not asking you to be my friend becaise I've saved you, but because I've met you. I'm James, you?"
"Elizabeth."
James left Elizabeth place after some useless discussions and he decided to return to his hostel, on his way he saw a girl. "A Nigerian girl" he guessed. He quickly approach the girl who was trying to buy something from a small shop beside the road.
"Just get me a sausage roll." RasoAmai said to the shopkeeper.
"Get me the same." James said as he reached the place. RasoAmai staired at him for sometime and took her eyes off him later. James, after noticing her said to her; "It's a free life, sister. Anyine can order whatever he wants."
"Well, order whatever you want to order and say whatever you got to say after."
"Are you a Nigerian?"
"No, Kenyan"
"Oh! Wow"
The shopkeeper came out with two sausage rolls. Handing each over to both James and RadoAmai.
"Payment, please." Says the shopkeeper.
James brought out his money and handed it over to theshopkeeper while RasoAmai was still reaching for her pause. "I think the money is enough to make both my payment and hers."
"Yeah" replied the shopkeeper.
"Thanks a lot." RasoAmai said to James
"You're highly welcome, pretty one." Why don't you let me accompany you back to your hostel?"
"No problem na, you can."
RasoAmai and Kames started walking down the road, headind to RasoAmai's hostel. James broke the silence that had remained between them for a short period of time.
"My name is James, yours?"
"RasoAmai."
"Oh! Wow! What a beautiful name to befit an alluring face."
RasoAmai blushed "Wow, thanks."
"Ehm, can I ask a question?"
"Yeah, go ahead."
"Is tribal difference or nationality difference a factor to be considered in a relationship?"
"No. Why did you ask?"
"Because I'm already in love with a girl who is from Africa as well as I am but belongs to another tribe different from mine."
"And, if I may ask, who is that girl?"
"Of course, the one standing beside me, RasoAmai." They both burst into a sudden laughter.
"You're so funny"
"You might think I'm funny, but I'm not joking oh. I've just met the right person to spend my life with."
"Okay." RasoAmai said, smiling. "I'd think about it"
"Please, there is nothing there to think about at all. Accept me into your life please."
"Okay, I heard you"
"Not yet."
"Come on, say you love me na."
"Not yet na."
"Tell me you love me or else, I won't let you go."
"Okay, I love you."
