Synopsis
Life is well and Zaxton has finally graduated the 11th grade, final in his school. Zaxton is pretty average as a person, with foreign languages and history being his favourite subjects, with nothing notably unusual about him. When he falls asleep however, he comes to an entirely different world, where he controls how realistic almost anything is, and where he has to defend his country from the strange Beasts. Due to final exams, Zaxton couldn't sleep well for a few days, and today, he finally gets his fair share of sleep. This time however, he couldn't enter his dream, while, in the meantime, all around the world the especially vivid and realistic dreams come to life, bringing along unrest, new communities and... ...new threats... (Contains elements of Steampunk along with precious artillery.)

Chapter 1 - Prologue

*rrrrrriiiingg*

- That concludes the final exam of the year. I hope the knowledge of history which I taught over the last few years will stay with you, since it's basis of current and coming, you'll always see it around you.

Final day of the 11th grade. Last exam of the year. History.

[A great subject, always relevant, or, at least, that's what they are trying to remind everyone about. I know very well what almost everyone else thinks of our history classes.

"An unavoidable obstacle."

that's what most of them think it is. And while for most of them that's what it is, for me, it's a window to the past, which gives me inspiration.]

Inspiration for his own history, which he was never able to write down, but which he lived through in his dreams.

Zaxton is a freshly graduated student. He's average in most classes, with a higher score in foreign language and history.

He may not be the best student in the grade like his friend, or the most attractive in the class like the annoying guy, whose personality never liked but whose appearance was enviable.

He didn't complain, and he had some plans for the future, so he was quite content with his place in the world.

He did have some things about himself that he didn't like though.

Like his indesiciveness and inconfidence about non-essential things and surprisingly...

...inability to write down his thoughts well when he wanted to.

He tried to write a novel a few times, but everything would stall just after a few words, since he would get too confused to continue.

This doesn't mean he didn't have anything to write about, because oh boy he did.

His dreams, his story which he would watch unfold, and most importantly his interest.

Big...

Thick...

Heavy...

Guns.

Artillery, tanks, mortars, cannons. revolvers, rifles and general explosives too.

But in his dream he could get so much more.

Massive.

Metal.

Steam-powered.

War machines.

What he would do to get one in real life... Even he didn't know. He knew, that he wanted at least one, and in his head it was, almost, completely possible.

- ...of course, the way that he thinks of is a lot more logical and long term then what is about to happen, but it doesn't matter. I also like his dream, and I know full well what I'm going to do in order to make it a reality.

The cheerful voice could be heard somewhere, but there was noone to hear it.

Meanwhile, Zaxton sincerely thanked his history teacher, and went home.

Once he got there, he had only one thought on his mind.

[Sleep. I have, and I want, to sleep for a while.]

He was having trouble sleeping lately, which disgruntled him for two reasons.

Firstly, he couldn't get into his dream, which meant he couldn't enjoy the view of the machines he developed in there.

Code name: Z-S-M.

Short for Zaxton Steam Machine.

One of the best parts of his dream, in his opinion, was the fact that he had complete control of how realistic certain parts of it were.

As such, he managed to come up with a whole country, where he was responsible for designing weaponry with his subordinates controlling the country, and even though he didn't come up with enemy countries, the fact is, that even without his wish his country was under attack of swarms of weird monsters, so he naturally had a way to vent his wishes, while feeling a tiny bit suspicious.

And even though he didn't have a limit on how unrealistic his designs were, he tried to keep the unrealisticism to a minimum, and as such there was only one thing he didn't know how to achieve in real life to make his machines come to life, and he was proud of his mind for such an achievement, even though he was embarrased to admit that.

And second reason for his dissappointed on his inability to sleep was...

...the fact that his parents were worried about him because of it.

And he was very worried when his parents were worried.

And now, he was going to go to sleep early to make up for the unslept time.

-Pheeww. Well, good dreams...z z z z z z....

___ ___ ___

Back to where the weird voice was, a strange figure materialised.

- ...It's time to start...

A light flashed, and something weird started happening.

In real world, some strange creatures started to appear.

And people would find out soon enough.

Since they were the prey now.

Of course, thay weren't the only thing that has begun appearing.

Some of the most vivid dreams also started to realize, to a lesser extent, but it still began.

And so, unrest slowly started to rise, all the while Zaxton kept on sleeping.
