Hayden raised his head and glared at Mason; he had begun to lose his temper, Mason knew, but he wasn't satisfied, neither of them were. Perhaps pushing his button would let him speak, they thought. They wanted him to explain his feelings to them instead of holding them in and bottling them to himself and lying to them. A relationship filled with lies can't survive.
“He's alive.” Hayden closed his eyes as he tried to suppress his raging emotions. He felt annoyed due to the way Mason was trying to provoke him, but that's how their relationship had grown—they were always hot and cold with each other, yet they had a strangely close friendship different from the one he and Andy have. He still doesn't know why Mason was doing it because Mason was never the inquisitive or nosy type, yet Mason was the one getting on his nerves with this question.
