Ice Kingdom
The bars of the cell open with a crack and groan. Liam steps inside after Jensen. A hunched figure in dirty tattered clothes sits on the opposite wall. He looks at the brothers with large moistened eyes.
“We came to talk about your sentence,” says Jensen.
Kenneth nods his head.
“You will remain in prison for life,” says Jensen with finality in his voice.
Kenneth says nothing but hangs his head in defeat. It is a different man from the one Liam fought with at the Fire Kingdom castle. The cell door opens as the brothers exit.
“Forgive me!” shouts Kenneth in a horse voice that cracks.
“Only God can forgive,” says Liam, turning to look at Kenneth.
Jensen places the silky, cream-colored bow tie on his brother's neck. The fabric fits snugly to Liam’s skin. When they both look in the mirror, their blue eyes reflect a sparkle like identical aquamarine gems.
Liam looks at the ticking, grandfather clock; it marks 8:50 in the morning.
