THE SUNLIGHT STREAMED into the room, casting a golden glow over everything in sight as Zi Yin woke. He felt groggy and depressed, his heart aching and raw from the betrayal he had experienced at the hands of Fu Tai the day before.
He struggled to get out of bed, his body sore and his mind heavy with grief.
Despite the beautiful day outside, with the birds chirping and the flowers blooming, Zi Yin's heart felt heavy and dark, like a storm cloud hovering over him. He knew he had to find a way to move past this betrayal and heal his broken heart, but at the moment, it seemed like an impossible task.
The servants came by with breakfast, setting down some congee for him to eat.
Zi Yin was listless, staring down at his food and feeling vacant.
Fu Tai's face flashed before his eyes, his handsome smile enough to make his heart still. Zi Yin's hands clenched around his bowel, he felt disgusted by this whole thing.
