Arc 1: The Meeting - Chapter 45
Crazy voices; I think I lucked out in taking care of Nyarla first because Stella is a huge bitch to take care of. She nitpicks everything that Stolas does, and I get caught in between almost all the time whenever I need to help them with anything.
Almost is the keyword because thanks to the presence of Octavia made the tension between the married couple ease a bit. As well as, having Yui here to deal with Stella's rage is another factor too. Which I'm very thankful for.
Fun fact: Having access to the legacy of the Noblesse has made things extremely easy for me not to make a mockery out of myself. Every movement I make is precise and elegant. In addition, I was making lots of improvements to my previous cheats too.
For example, my cooking was on the level of godlike, or at least I think it was. Is for sure at the level of godlike since all the food I had cooked recently because so much that even the avian demon family praised all their might when I fed them a simple meal. A simple meal that was glowing like in those anime.
The girls noticed this right away and stared at me hungrily.
I might have triggered their hidden fetish for noblemen/divine chefs, or it's because I'm doing something that is out of the usual. It could be both, for that matter, but it still doesn't change our relationship. If anything, I think they show more affection as I obtain new cheats and godlike items. Which pushed me further away from who I was before in the beginning.
Want to know something funny, crazy voice? It has been two weeks now since I became a caretaker. Can you believe it? It felt like such a long time, but it wasn't. Not to mention, I have died once before too, which is my fault, honestly; nevertheless, I still died, and that alone is enough to prove this job is extremely dangerous with a high death rate if I didn't have a cheat to bring me back to life.
Anyway, the girls are talking with Octavia while Yui is chatting with Stella, giving Stolas the time to relax as Stella's attention is elsewhere.
I glance at the girls happily chatting with Octavia, who is getting along with them.
Okay, so it seems like, unlike in the canon, Octavia wasn't too lonely, going by how familiar the girls are with her. Make me wonder how old Octavia is compared to her canon. Ah, screw it. I better not overthink something useless.
Better to just get back to picking the new additions of godlike items for me to grab.
Option 1: Infinite Treasure Chest - Each time you open this treasure cheat, you will get something considered a treasure in many eyes.
Option 2: Eye of Purity - See what normally cannot be seen.
Option 3: Coin of Destiny - Flip a coin to determine your miracle and death.
Option 4: Book of Chaotic Knowledge - Read the entire book and obtain knowledge that would drive one mad.
Option 5: Eldritch Gacha - Get a random godlike item related to the Eldritch pantheon.
Option 6: Mystery Lunchbox - You might get something good, care to test your luck?
Yeah, I have a bit of trouble thinking about which to get, and I got the feeling the Boss will not accept me not picking anything to increase the next list of godlike items. I mean, I guess the Boss did this for whatever reason besides being in a good mood, and if I do it again. Chances are that the Boss will just move on, and I lose the chance of obtaining one or two godlike items for the day.
I can tell this list of godlike items has the main theme of luck or the unknown, as in, bet on my luck in the hope of getting something good.
Now, knowing my experience in getting anything based on luck. It's not good. So, out of all the options I could grab, that won't be too bad but be too good that draws unwanted attention. Well, more than normal.
I'll just grab the Infinite Treasure Chest and Coin of Destiny. No way am I going to risk going even more insane with that Book of Chaotic Knowledge. Plus, I already have the many glowing books of cheats to use instead. Therefore, it's useless and too risky compared to glowing books. Nor do I want to risk whatever the Eldritch Gacha would give me. The Mystery Lunchbox just screams death, no matter how I look at it. As for the Eye of Purity, which is kind of useless since I can use Boundary Manipulation to get the same result.
Overall, I will treat the Treasure Chest similarly to the Survival Kit and the Coin of Destiny; it does exactly as it was commented on. Flip the coin, then a miracle would occur or death would happen instead. I can even make other use of it, but it would be a double standard of them gaining a miracle like I would when using it instead of just death.
So that said, the Coin of Destiny will just stay inside my mindscape for a very long time unless I need it for a dire situation. After all, even with the Save Point, I will still die and I rather not die for a second time if possible.
Anyway, as much as I want to open the Infinite Treasure Chest to see what kind of treasure would appear. I have to resume my duty as a caretaker. After all, the Boss has informed me through Ghost that the avian demon family is temporarily under my care.
"I must say, this tea is amazing. Nothing like I have ever tasted." Stolas praised me when I walked over to pour a freshly made teapot into his teacup, along with everyone's teacups that are sitting around the same table as Stolas.
"As much as I want to mock you for your poor taste in drinks. Even I have to admit this tea is refreshing and delicious." Stella calmly takes a sip from her teacup before letting out a satisfying sigh. "Just this tea and the food we've eaten alone want me to take Jin here home."
Yeah, not in your life. I have seen what kind of person you are. I rather take my chance with the high death rate with the eldritch. Or am I being overdramatic here, crazy voices?
Oh, right. Ghost informed me that temporarily, I would get some of your guys' messages after Ghost informed me whenever the Boss stopped you guys from viewing my life. I guess this is one way to hear you guys again. Even if it's late messages, which is somewhat weird and I won't get all the messages, but better than nothing, right?
This is payment for to take of the avian demon family. I don't know if it is worth it, but I got less than a week to see how it goes. Like, I already have to deal with Nyarla for over two weeks now, and I'm somewhat functioning fine. Kind of.
Anyway, I better stop zoning out and pay attention to what Stella is saying before she realizes I tuned out her voice like I usually do with anyone whenever I want to do an inner monologue, whether you guys are listening or not. Also, Yui is talking too, so I better snap out of it.
"Not happening, Stella. Jin is here to stay, not to mention he is also part of my family too." Yui argued back before taking another sip of tea.
"I could have sworn that Jin wasn't fully an official member of your family just yet." Stella gives Yui a demonic smile. "I'm sure I could talk to a few people from your family to give up on Jin for the right price. Everything can be obtained for the right price."
Yui's eyes glow dangerously, "Well, as one of the leaders in the Eldritch pantheon, I can make sure none of the lower ranks have any say in this."
I didn't expect that, but knowing Yui's background and her other identity. I kind of expect her to be someone very important. This makes me wonder who the Boss is to make Yui listen to the Boss.
"Oh, to think you would abuse your status." Stella let out a burst of demonic laughter that sends a chill down my spine.
Great. Now I have to deal with this. Bad enough, I have to deal with Eldritch girls sending a chill down my spine often. I guess I got to include Demonic girls in the category of those I shouldn't mess with, if possible.
"Say the same person that manages to cause many deaths of their kind just for entertainment." Yui narrow her eyes at Stella.
"It's in our nature." Stella wasn't offended. "Even this weak, spineless excuse of a husband of mine here would kill many demons because they were in his way for whatever reason, which is one of the qualities I like in him."
Stolas looked at Stella with wide eyes, where I'm willing to bet he wasn't prepared to hear a praise from his wife, even if she just insulted him first.
"What are you looking at, Stolas? Can't you see I'm talking to my friend here? Oh, right. You don't even have a friend." Stella sneers at her husband, causing Stolas to let out a disappointed sigh.
Hey, crazy voices. What's the chance Stella does have romantic feelings for Stolas, but she is a tsundere? You know, her being means to him all the time, but that could be just her main personality. Of course, she isn't truly a tsundere and is just mean to Stolas in general because he isn't how she expected him to be when being married to him.
So let me know what you guys think. I would be happy to have an easier time taking care of these avian demons. Also, some tips on how to make it so they won't come back here for my services. I like watching Helluva Boss and the main show Hazbin Hotel. However, that doesn't mean I want to get involved with that franchise's characters personally.
Well, no matter. It's not like I can kick them out and banish them back to their world. Not when they would come back easily and be very angry for being banished after gaining permission from the Boss to be under my care. Right, that's another thing; I can't banish them even if I had the gut to do so. Not when they have the Boss' permission to be here.
"And there goes any good feeling I had just now." Stolas groans before chugging the tea in one gulp, not caring how hot the tea is.
"Oh, get over yourself, Stolas." Stella rolls her eyes. "Anyway, how about you follow me back to my world? I'll make sure your service isn't unrewarded." Stella stares at me with greed and hunger.
"It seems like you don't understand what kind of position you're in." Yui's body releases an abnormal aura that warps reality around her.
"Fine. I'll stop." Stella rolls her eyes. "Honestly, you would think I have the ability to poach anything or anyone from your family. Especially with that entity that would easily erase me from existence as the least merciful thing."
Yui snorts, her eyes stop glowing, and reality returns to normal.
I bet the entity Stella is talking about is the Boss, there is no question about it.
