Reta put his hand on the oak bar counter.
"Alright. Here's how we're gonna settle this. Shrarld and Veleno, you two can wait here for the Chinese authorities to arrive. If we just leave this matter untouched we might get traced. If a strong hero arrives hold them off and don't end the fight fast or the situation is just gonna explode in your faces. The rest of us will head to the auction where we'll take the Jewel for ourselves through money or blood."
The group nodded. Shrarld grumbled happily. He was clearly in love with the idea of fighting anyone.
Veleno merely scoffed, saddened at who he had been paired up with.
The bar had become timid and the volume level had shrunk down to an almost deathly silence. Only the clinks of glass prevailed.
Reta placed an entirely black demon mask over his face.
"Let's go."
His voice was a few tones darker due to the mask muffling.
Pueris furrowed his brows.
'Why is he only using the mask? He looks goofy.'
The group consisting of Rockfish, Angjayre, Pueris, Reta, and Delno traversed through the streets of Suzhou before they turned a few swift corners.
Reta whispered so that only Angjayre who was by his side could hear.
"Tails?"
Angjayre shook her head calmly.
"None."
"Good."
Reta turned around and for a moment everyone in the group was shocked.
Rockfish curse
d.
"What the hell?"
Delno put a hand over her mouth to hide her shock whilst Pueris raised his eyebrows in false surprise.
Reta chuckled.
"It's a new feature of the mask. Angjayre installed it."
Reta, if you could even call him that now possessed the face of a middle-aged man with bushy black hair. He had an odd concentration of wrinkles on his left cheek but other than that he fit right in with the elders of Suzhou.
Reta halted the group with his right hand.
"First take one of these and implant it on your neck."
He handed out a cluster of white chips. Pueris remembered that they were Translators made so that they could speak to anyone in the World. Give or take.
"Soon, we're going to make a left turn where we'll enter the Auction. We've already managed to sort out some VIP seats but -the description I placed is a bit different from what we're currently working with."
Rockfish took a step back.
"How... different?"
Reta squinted
his eyes before smiling slyly.
"Just a tad."
On the highest floor of the Suzhou, Premier Auction House stood a glorious bar only fit for those of the highest class. Its floor was that of heavenly black carpets illustrated and crafted by only the most skilled carpenters. Its bars held wine so aged that they could qualify as museums. Posh lights invaded eyes and the luxurious atmosphere was only swindled by one small white-haired boy.
"I want McDonald's."
Pueris huffed and puffed but his Mcdonald's never came.
His server, a waiter in a cotton shirt and ironed black pants sighed. His facial expression winced as he tried to deal with the immature being before him. Although he had unique purple hair and golden eyes his potential as a model had been wasted in this rich-people dump.
"Young sir, I'm afraid there are no McDonalds in this fine establishment. Perhaps you should go to-."
"I... want... McDonald's."
For a split-second the waiter froze, his entire figure being devoured by killing intent before he was finally released.
"I'll- I'll try my best young sir."
He ran off in a frightful transe.
Pueris cursed.
"This wasn't the goddamn idea."
He was currently stalling for time so that his translator could charge up and he could begin his actual ploy.
{Flashback.}
Reta tapped Pueris on the shoulder.
"Pueris, I'm gonna need you to take one for the team."
Pueris shook slightly, though he was unsure of why.
"Huh?"
Reta grimaced.
"One of us is gonna have to distract the guards. And I'm afraid..."
"It's gonna have to be you."
{Flashback End}.}
Pueris felt like falling into the core of the Earth.
He had to cause a commotion big enough to distract every single waiter in the bar.
Pueris scratched his head in confusion before murmuring under his breath.
"I suppose there is only 1 way to do this."
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Pueris set his translator to the highest volume possible.
"Testing."
A hypersonic blast crashed through the room, every head turned as ears reached rupture points. Pueris' translator began shaking and reporting static feed. It was being overworked.
Everyone had looked his way but it wasn't enough.
"Testing. Testing."
The translator gradually adjusted to Pueris' words and before he knew it, the people in the bar had all covered their ears in pain.
"Testing. Testing. Testing. Testing. Testing."
Pueris closed his eyes, pushing the bar off his translator far above the red level.
"Testing."
When he opened his eyes, the entire room was on the floor cowering, blood streaming from their ears. Even the guards were in utter agony.
Pueris grabbed a chocolate bar from the counter before sitting in a seat and waiting.
There was a camera in the right corner of the room, flashing a chronic red light over and over.
Pueris decided it would be futile to play the act of a wimpy child any longer. He would meet his crimes accordingly.
Pueris noticed some of the tougher men and women in the group slowly regaining their consciousness and standing up.
Pueris whispered to himself wildly.
"No, you don't..."
He tolled up his translator once more.
"Testing."
The room was nothing but an infestation of slumped bodies once more.
Pueris shrugged as he yawned to himself.
"These guys are all rich enough to afford healing ability users anyways."
Pueris' eyes shook.
"These guys are all corrupt."
He tolled up his translator.
"Testing. Testing Test-."
Pueris saw his reflection in a wine glass. He tolled his translator down, saving the people in the room shortly.
"Stop. You're no longer daemon."
"You're Pueris."
2 lazy men with neckbeards finished their packs of Doritos in peace. They just had to check the cameras once every few minutes and they'd make more than 20 till-workers did in a week.
Life was bliss.
The first man mumbled as he dipped his hand in Cheeto dust.
"Mmh. Gotta check those cameras."
The second man laughed darkly.
"Please. What's gonna be on the screen? A room of dead people?"
Flicker.
The screens launched.
Their figures froze.
"Fwaaack-."
To the guards, they had no clue how everyone had fallen. It just looked like they had all gone to the ground in sync.
Neenaw. Neenaw. Neenaw. Neenaw. (I don't know what a bloody alarm sounds like ok?)
A red light shone and flickered in a room. Security guards suited up before heading for the top floor. The leader who had a special raven-blue hat spoke as they all rushed up to the most important floor in the entire Auction House.
"There's been an accident on the top floor. Every single person is on the floor, their health state is unknown. There is a child in the bar rumored to be the perpetrator. We have to storm in. Save the innocents and arrest the child. Don't let looks deceive you."
"Yes Sir."
"Yes Sir."
"Of course, Sir."
A chorus of nods and agreements rang out.
They turned several corners and ran up hundreds of stairs.
When they finally opened the last door they saw a devil.
They found a white-haired child playfully flailing his legs on the bar counter.
Pueris looked to his right in anticipation.
"Welcome to the party."
The guards were confused.
Pueris laughed.
"Oh, my bad. No English."
He turned his translator on to the max dial.
"Welcome to the party."
Boom.
The guards all fell near the front of the room forming a pile. Each and every one of them felt like ending it all as ear-rupturing sounds haunted them.
"Testing. Testing."
Pueris leaned back as he waited for the next wave.
"This is easier than I thought."
A groan sounded.
"Oh, sorry."
Pueris dialed his translator down.
"I'm still getting used to this thing."
A man in a fine black suit cursed bitterly. He slicked back his waxed blonde hair. He was Alex Furgiono, 25, young and brimming with potential. But just now he had met with a disaster. He could either solve the problem on the top floor that he had been alerted of or he could ignore it and solidify his security in the actual auction event.
Alex slapped himself on the cheek.
"Screw it. Send FC7 in."
"Rodger boss."
Alex walked out to the nearest waiter. He had purple hair and golden eyes that smoothly accompanied a glamorous face.
"You smell odd. Take a shower."
The waiter nodded sheepishly.
"Yes."
His voice came out unexpectedly low.
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, what?"
The waiter coughed. Tapping his neck.
His voice then came out unexpectedly loud.
"Yes sir."
Alex shrugged off the interaction.
Reta let a sigh of relief rip.
"Nosy little runt."
Looking both ways Reta began calmly and professionally strolling down a velvet-red coated corridor down to a place called the Vault. Usually, it would have 8 guards patrolling it and if a hair of any of them was even touched then an alarm would sound shutting down the entire vault.
Luckily, there was currently only 1 guard due to Pueris' ploys and Rockfish was standing right behind him eerily. Angjayre was crouched behind him. The guard looked like a fool but in reality, Angjayre had deployed an invisibility barrier that only Reta could see through due to his mask that Angjayre had connected to the barrier.
Reta smirked.
It was all going to plan.
