Chapter 68 - Episode 68: A Kitchen mess

"I can make a sandwich"

Ramon declared with a bright grin, eyes sparkling which made Angello shiver in both hope and fear.

The thought of allowing him to play with knives alone was criminal so he stood up still pressing the bag against his arm, "stay away from anything sharp, would ya?"

Ramon sulked, making his way to the kitchen, stomach growling, "You don't boss me around. Now stop bugging me and stay there. I'll make the best ham sandwich you've ever eaten~", he sang disappearing through the kitchen door.

Soon after the feline male chased him, worried for his friend's safety, "It told ya for your own safety, you fool! Would you listen to me once?".

Ramon walked over to the pantry looking for bread, "I'm busy here. Stop barking."

Angello sat on the table as his arm didn't stop throbbing, considering asking for some pain killers yet he replied, "Then I'll stay here. Can't let you stay here without supervision."

Ramon spotted the bread at the bottom so he pulled it out, his voice playful as he didn't mind having company, "Such a worrywart, if you wanna stay with me that bad just say so.", this caused the cat-like man to cough.

The taller man turned around as he heard his friend having a coughing fit. He almost dropped the bread on the ground as he tossed it on the counter, rushing to his friend's side, "You ok, pal?"

The shorter male nodded, avoiding Ramon's intense gaze focused on him examining his flushed face, "yeah… get away dude."

He tried to push the taller one away when his hand came closer to his face, backing up he almost fell backwards but steadied it on time.

The brunette frowned as the redheaded pushed him away, "Why are you always like that? I just wanted to know if you're fine."

The feline man jumped to his feet ignoring the pain on his arm letting go of the bag now landing on the table, hands up, whining, "I'm alright. Now sit down and I'll make the sandwiches."

Ramon retreated his hand, his jaw clenching, not knowing why Angello's reaction irritated him, "No, I said I will. Now sit. You always do things for us, let me take care of it."

—"I said I would." Angello yelped trying to stop the large male, who slammed his hand on the table harshly which got attention from the others'.

—"No! Gimme that!"

Angello reached for the ham pack ready to open it with some scissors yet Ramon tried to snatch it from him, "You can't even grab it." He commented upon seeing Angello weakly holding the scissors,

Angello retorted when they were taken from his hands, —"Like you could do a better job without stabbing someone in the process."

Ramon spoke, aiming the sharp scissors on his friend's way, —"Stop jinxing it!"

Angello's face paled, not liking to be at the end of those scissors with Ramon being the one shaking them as if they were unharmful, —"Get down that damn thing!"

Loud steps were heard as two beings barged into the kitchen, a man landed on the ground with a loud thud held by a shorter one whilst another one snatched the scissors on time before they fell to the ground, leaving the feline man in shock as everything happened so fast he barely registered what happened.

"Are you ok, pal? Did he hurt you?"

Teo asked a pale Angello who only stared at him wide eyed, mouth agape trying to recall the events.

The taller male spoke under Jake's dead grip around his wrists who also straddled his legs with his own to keep him in place whilst he squirmed beneath the younger trying to break free, "What are you on about, bro? I didn't hurt him."

Teo yelled, holding the scissors up as proof, "Then what's this? Why were you aiming at him with these?"

Angello snapped back into reality as he saw the scissors shaking in the air again, "the ham…"

Jake frowned, looking up at the feline man, tightening his grip around Ramon's strong wrists, "What ham?"

Angello tried to ignore the fact the current position the males on the ground were in filled his heart with thousands of needles stinging it with poison, so he turned his face towards the ham pack, picking it up, "This ham. I was going to cut it open.." he muttered.

Jake and Teo got quiet as they just realised they misunderstood the situation, an awkward silence fell in the room afterwards.

Ramon spoke hoping this could get Jake's grip to lessen as the position the boy has him in put him in a tough spot, which he wanted to avoid for obvious reasons, "I was going to make a sandwich because he was hurt so I just took the scissors because he could barely hold them."

Angello sulked, playing with the ham in his hands, "I can hold things.. it doesn't hurt anymore."

Teo snatched the ham, "Gimme this. Now how about y'all sit down whilst I make dinner."

Jake let go of Ramon, ashamed of his actions, pouting, the latter felt relieved that his limbs were free now yet guilty for the boy's reaction.

Ramon sat by the table next to Angello whilst Teo made dinner with the assistance of Jake who didn't mind mincing the chicken and some vegetables whilst Teo fried some species with some broth.

The curly blonde haired spoke when Jake threw the chicken on the frying pan to sear the outside along with the vegetables, "Whoever told ya sandwiches are dinner?"

–"Stop mocking me. I was trying to get feed myself and Angello"

Angello muttered to himself, "The donkey waltz in first"

Ramon asked as he didn't know what he meant, "Did you say something?"

Angello cleared his throat to avoid the topic, explaining themselves, "Nevermind, what this silly man meant is that he was starving and thought about making something doesn't imply cooking."

Teo replied, holding the frying pan by its handle to stir the chicken and veggies like a pro, "He could've ordered take out and it'd be way healthier. Y'know?"

Ramon crossed his arms over his chest offended no one trusted him in the kitchen, "Y'all underestimate me. I'm capable of many things in–"

"Cooking is none in the list, bro and you know it. Even a sandwich is too much for you," Teo cut him off as he was going to brag about his achievements, which were fine, but even he knew cooking was out of his reach for more than a reason which he avoided to go into detail for the length of it.

–"I see I have no one's support in this house"

Ramon complained to which Jake reassured him, "I don't know how good you are in the arts of cooking, I suppose anyone might learn with a proper teacher."

Angello frowned as he had tried to teach the large male dozens of times but it ended up being a hazard for both of them, especially for the 'accidents' happening when Ramon was around.

"It doesn't work like that."

Jake retorted, glaring at the short male by the table, "Who says? I volunteer to be his teacher. Who knows. I might teach him some useful tricks. All he needs is someone with a tough hand and patience"

Angello got triggered by this, yet his flat tone remained unchanged, "Well, when you try you'll know what we meant. Good luck with your new student."

Jake's competitive nature got fired up by those words, fisting up the air in signal of victory, "We'll see who has the last word~"

With that challenger at hand they shared a fulfilling meal, Teo telling random anecdotes to Jake about Ramon's kitchen adventures which tended to end in a disaster, making the youngest laugh whilst the latter objected at every chance he got.

Angello ate quietly just observing them, finishing soon so he could make a silent escape, sneaking out at the first chance he got.

It took them by surprise yet they thought it was due his arm hurt, Ramon considered the option to knock at his door but let it be knowing Angello would avoid him as he tended to do when he got worried about him so he requested his brother to do it in his stead as he knew Teo wouldn't leave him until he gives him an answer.

With that they said their good night wishes to each other, Jake volunteered to do the dishes but Teo loved to do them when he was stressed so he reassured them he would as it would help him to distract his mind and keeping him from checking up his device every 5 minutes hoping to find a text or a call.

Ramon guided Jake to his bedroom to rest up and the youngest was over the moon as they settled an schedule to get started with the cooking classes the next day, they were so into their conversation laughing and planning everything loudly, which grabbed Angello's attention who rushed to the door, planting his ear on his door eavesdropping on the.

He called himself a sucker for pain as who in their right mind would, willingly, eavesdrop on his crush knowing he was having a lively conversation with someone else. He truly loved to suffer as hearing their laugh wounded his melon heart.
