Asla paced around the room as she explained how the slave branding works. She usually never did that but, Lucio's genuine curiosity and the way he asked questions made like doing something she generally did not like.
"… makes sure they do not attack their masters. Did you understand?"
Lucio nodded, deep in thought, "Yes. So, when someone is branded, they lose their name and will be assigned a new name by their masters.
The acceptance of that name is like a contract that the slave willingly signs… and after the process is done, the brand is absorbed into the skik and "magically" binds the heart with the contract.
When a slave deflects or the master dies, the brand will re-emerge on the skin and the slaves will lose all the rights they had when they had a master.
In short, it was my fault for not giving them names…"
