Chapter 25 - Gamble Gamble!

Lucio looked at Betty before asking her "Can we shout here?"

"Yes…. But you aren't supposed to be disturbing other businesses. You should be fine until a worker from the bar asks you to stop."

Lucio nodded before standing up from his chair and started "Advertising"

"Everyone! Spare me a few seconds of your attention please!"

"Everyone! Spare me a few seconds of your attention please!"

Lucio shouted at the top of his lungs for a few times and many people turned towards him, waiting for him to talk.

"Now that I have most of your attention, I announce that we will be hosting two types of games for you all to make some quick bronze and silvers!

The first time is played by a group and the second type is the advanced game mode where you can only bet in silvers. Come here and test it out! We will host a few trial games for all of you to get used to the rules!"

Although many heard him, only a few walked over to check things out. He waited for a while and about twenty people gathered.

"Alright then, I will toss this coin up into the air and catch it with one of my hands. You guys have to guess where the coin is. Two groups for left and right hand.

The betting fee for this mode is one bronze coin only and the group that wins will get two bronze coins back, PRACTICALLY DOUBLING THE MONEY!" Lucio raised his voice as he said the last part and many people gathered to simply watch instead of participate.

Lucio then looked at the group of people standing in front of him and tossed a bronze coin into the air to catch it with the same motion he used against the bar owner. He then extended his enclosed fists sideways and said,

"Keep your coins on the table and stand at the side where you think the coin is."

The participators obliged and left their coins on the table before choosing a side. Lucio then opened his fist, revealing the coin in his left hand.

"Looks like the left side wins, but you will not gain any money or lose any money in this round as this was clearly a trial round. Take all your coins back please. We will start the game for real now so that we can all earn some quick silvers."

He repeated the process and eight people stood on his left while fourteen stood to his right. Lucio felt the coin in his right hand and put it in the inventory before summoning it back in his left hand.

The people in the right groaned when they saw the minority win but since the betting cost was low and the game had already affected their minds, they were hooked and many more people joined.

Lucio told Betty to manage the finances while he engaged the crowd, sometimes letting the majority win to rile up their adrenaline so they would gamble more.

After a few hours of continuous work, Lucio felt his shoulders hurting. Lucio looked at the crowd with a smile and said "Let's all take a small break, shall we? After the break, I will switch the game mode. This game is only for real men who know how to play."

His words had riled up the crowd and while he massaged his shoulders before counting the coins that were inside the pot, the people counted their losses and gains.

Some left as they lost a bit too much money but most stayed as even more joined when they heard that the advanced game will be played.

After counting about two hundred bronze coins, Lucio raised his hands, drawing everyone's attention.

"Alright, let's set some rules for this game. Only one player can play at once and the minimum bid should be one silver.

Although the others cannot bid on where the coin will be, you can bid on the outcome of the player's decision, you can bid on if the player will win or lose.

People who bid on the player winning, stand to my right and the ones who bid on the player losing, stand to my left.

There are no limits for betting costs in this game and you will still be able to double the amount you bid."

Lucio looked at everyone in silence for a while so that the information sinks in before saying "Tonight, we will have a maximum of ten people who are allowed to be the main players. These ten will have a chance to DOUBLE THEIR SILVER!"

People were restless when they heard him and started pushing and pulling each other as they shouted "ME, ME LET ME PLAY!"

"GET OFF ME! I AM THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO WIN THE SILVERS!"

"…"

"…"

"…"

Lucio raised his hand again and the crowds surprisingly calmed down. When everyone went silent, Lucio spoke calmly "The ones who line up in front of me with the most silver in their hand, will get to participate."

After saying that, he leaned back on the chair as he looked at the people go crazy. It took a while but ten men stood in front of him with huge leather pouched full of coins.

It didn't take Lucio a lot of effort to tell that they were merchants and a few lower nobles. Their clothes and their way of speaking told a lot about them.

'Time to milk these cows dry.'

"Alright then, the first person can come forward and place the amount of silvers you want to bid."

A man with a pot belly walked forward and placed five towers of ten silvers each. He was confident in his skills as he had won most of the rounds that he played but he only earned a few bronze coins.

He finally had the chance to earn a lot of silvers and since he felt that his luck was good, he went for it.

Lucio looked at the man and the coins placed on the table and sighed loudly before saying "This man wants me to go broke…. I can only pray that he loses."

The man simply smiled and motioned Lucio to start, which he did and asked the man to guess where the coin is while he waited for the spectators to bid.

Many placed bronze coins on the table as Betty noted down their names and their bids. The whole process took a few minutes and after it was done, Lucio opened his palms, shocking everyone.

"Looks like you were right…." Lucio sighed as he said and stood up. "I don't have so much silver on me right now so, I'll go get it from my room and if you don't trust me, you can send someone with me."

Lucio walked to his room in the inn and took out a hundred silver from his inventory while the person waited outside for him. He then walked out and moved towards the bar.

When the man saw Lucio walk back with a pouch full of silver, he relaxed. He had thought that Lucio would escape even with a man following him.

Lucio gave him the fifty silver and said "You have been winning too much today. Can you tell me how?"

"Hahaha, I was just lucky."

"I'd say you have a sharp eye…" Lucio replied and sat down motioning the enxt person to come forward, but the fat man interrupted "I want to lay another round. I didn't have enough silver on me so I only bet fifty silvers."

"I don't see how that's my problem. Come back tomorrow with more money if you want to play more." Lucio said and dismissed him irritably.

The next nine players bet less than the first guy but other than the person who bet a single silver, everyone else lost.

Lucio had made a profit of six silvers and about four hundred bronze coins, including the loss of fifty silvers to the first player and he was quite happy with the results as the trap he had set up had been successful.

It was a few minutes past midnight when Lucio returned to his room, exhausted but pretty happy with what he had achieved that day. He was hungry as he had forgotten to have his dinner and all the shops were closed currently.

Lucio shook his head as he lay down on the bed and opened his player interface.
