Chapter 5 - The wormhole experience

"Drop the gun down, Marcus, you don't know what you're doing..."

"I have to do it, I have to save myself"

"Killing me won't change anything, you'll still get killed over and over again, don't you understand?"

"You don't know that, we don't know that"

"You have to listen to me"

"I can't trust you..."

"You're not a murderer and you know it because if you didn't you would have killed me by now (chuckles) you've been pointing that gun at me for the last eight minutes now, you know you can't..."

"You don't know anything about me, you don't know anything at all"

"Alright, then do it, pull the trigg..."

Back to the school bus, two months before, on a rainy day, Marcus positioned himself in a seat next to the window, placing his backpack in the seat to his right to avoid interactions, and useless conversations he always believed were a waste of his precious time, the less he talked, the more he had time to think. Listening to the 54th voice recording on the way home while watching raindrops on the glass racing to reach the bottom, it took him a while to write down all the informations he needed in order to understand the events related to the street war, until then, he couldn't identify the ones responsible for his death. No names were mentioned at that point, no crucial details, nothing but plans and descriptions of numerous blueprints, that he did his best in order to draw them on his notebook in the mathematics class, they weren't so useful because the buildings that were planned on the blueprints weren't going to exist any time sooner.

"What is that?", It looks like Jin will never refrain from being the nosey classmate he always were to Marcus. "Oh, hey Jin" he said, as he went through the pages in some sort of demonstration, "These are just some...you know, layouts for a new FPS game i'm currently working at." Marcus couldn't find a better lie; for Jin was never supposed to see any of that, and Marcus was too caught up in his work, and his act of admiring raindrops to notice that Jin was watching him for a while now. "I know that I shouldn't bother you right now as you're so focused in what you're doing, but what happened to our 'oath', I mean we were supposed to inspect the voice recordings together, That's what we both agreed to, as far as I know." Jin asked, a smile spread all across his face, he adjusted his reading glasses and then continued: "I know, we are busy with school and what's actually going on but I thought maybe...No, I have to say it (smiles again) I'm pretty sure you already know that i'm making an excuse to hang out more, I'll be honest with you, I really had good time back when we were decrypting the files."

Marcus didn't know what to say, as he was never confronted with something like that throughout the entirety of his academic life, inspite of his analytical intellegence, he never knew how to deal with emotions, especially in that situation, where he believed he was stripped off of his ability to be human again, he had been numbed by the experience he had to go through in the graveyard.

"Thanks, that means a lot" Marcus smiled genuinely, took off his headphones and actually started a conversation with Jin, after all, he never knows when would be the next time he does, or if he ever will again.

They eventually came to an agreement; that they don't have to investigate the voice memos to spend time together. For once, Jin was ready to give up his curiousity about the matter, and that's when Marcus thought that he could trust him with his secret for the first time.

"Today is 5th of June, I don't know even know what year it is, I don't recognize anything, I don't know where I'm at or what I'm even doing here, I am completely lost. The last thing I remember is that I walked In a dark alleyway west of the city near the "Silk Waves" coffee shop that seems to be replaced with...a mailing office? I don't know how long have I been gone unconscious but that is near impossible. making such a change in this particular area of the city would take at least two years, I would've been dead if that was the case due to dehydration and stravarion. Maybe I'm just overreacting. I walked for two hours now and all I noticed was nothing abnormal, except for these commercial signs...I really have to ask about the time. Excuse me, do you have the time?....okay, looks like I've been out for 23 minutes, what day?....I know this sounds strange but, what year?...that can't be true, I...I'm pretty sure I haven't been sleeping for three years. What is going on? no, I have to make sure myself....(scratching noises)".

Marcus wasn't sure what the recording he just listened to was all about, mainly because most of it was just news about his future wedding, which he never paid any attention to, and then inaudible speech and some noise that nearly made his ears bleed, then that out of context gibberish as he walked in the streets of Uyreafield asking people about time like a maniac, and then the same noise again. It was completely incomprehensible, yet it felt odd, because to this point the voice recording was nothing more than audible diary, starting off with his post graduation plans, to Rocky's death after his graduation, to his engagement to a girl named Erica Butler and now his sudden confusion about time as he went unconscious for a few minutes (according to him), none of these events had anything to do with his murder.

"A wormhole, theorarically is nothing but a connection between space and time, a bridge that allows objects to be transferred across the material plane with immaculate speed, but that's only the simple definition of it, It has more depth to it than just that. Now, I haven't studied this matter, this entity for long enough to say that I might have an understanding of what it is, I've done no reliable research on it, however, I have what's more of an experience so to speak. On the 5th of June...I don't know what year I should refer to here, anyways, I walked into the "Silk Waves" coffee shop, same as I do every monday morning, not getting into details about my routine for that wouldn't be anywhere near relevant to what I'm about to say in this memo. I was drawn by what sounds like several bioreactors or electric panels, I'm not sure I can describe what that sounded like, sent off a high pitched frequency that I assume people didn't pay attention to, thinking that it has a different source, coffee machines is my first guess. I don't remember me attempting to check it out, I don't even remember me stepping out of "Silk Waves", but I reckon that's exactly what I did. I think I walked into that zone and somehow ended up in here, three years later. I've done more research and I revisited the area for more than 100 times now, hoping to find a route home, hoping that what caused me to wind up in here would reverse that somehow, but nothing. It's been six months and I'm starting to have my doubts, my family reported me missing most likely by now and my fiance would think I fleed the country, I can't seem to find any of them in this....'timeline'. Anyways, throughout all of this, I found out that what caused all of this was a wormhole. I know this might seem illogical, but the only thing that can transport any solid object like this would be nothing other than a wormhole, which made me go insane just wondering why wasn't I torn apart or at least distorted both internally and externally during the process of the transportation? and why the hell would it even exist in an alleyway in the city? I probably would never be able to answer these two questions and I don't care if I don't, all I want is for things to go back to normal, for me to go back to my time...I should get some sleep, I haven't slept in two days, until then..."
