Chapter 35 - Capture

[Forgive me for the he/ she pronouns for Kai]

Arriving inside the room with brute strength, Kai's gaze fell on a group of people with terrified expressions; one of whom had yellow liquid spurting out of a certain place.

Their hearts thumped erratically as they stared at the armored being pleading for mercy. To say a single word was even a hassle for them; they could only remain silent, waiting for what this being would do next.

"You vampires are so disgusting." Kai's cold voice rang in their hearts, and it only sent a series of jolts through their nerves.

"I guess I won't have to stress myself," Kai said, and created a series of light patterns in mid-air. Then something strange happened. Several chains of light energy spurted out of the surface, binding all the vampires.

'Yes, take us far away from here then; I'll rip your neck out of your head the way I'd have done with a certain thot.' One of them thought, a deep scowl spreading on her face.

'Even though I haven't caught this so-called Alucard, these vampires should please the prince.' Kai thought, staring down at the device in his hand, which was indicating that these were all the vampires.

Kai lifted his head and glanced at the vampires. Two had blond hair, almost identical, beautiful and curvy to the point that he gulped. On the other side was a man with white hair and red eyes that were murderous and mesmerizing to gape at.

For some reason, Kai's gaze lingered on this particular vampire, who was staring back at him with those ominous bloodshot eyes.

It was a bit difficult for Kai to gaze away... He had a budding feeling that this vampire wasn't just an ordinary vampire. Kai was wary. With another glance, he made a mental note to watch the white-haired vampire more closely.

Looking ahead, there was a black-eyed woman, unlike the normal vampires, these vampires' eyes were gloomy and mundane.

These eyes were oddly familiar and distant at the same time. Kai couldn't tell, but it almost felt like he had seen those eyes somewhere, but the question was, where?

Deciding not to fuss much, Kai brought another circular device with a red button, and with a punch, he brought it close to his ear. It connected.

"Bring me the beast"

"Sir, would that mean we would move from our spot?" The voice from the other side spoke with reverence and respect that could be felt by everyone in the room.

"Yes, move out, every single one of you." With those words, the line of communication disconnected, and the room went hollow again; only the faint breath of the captive sounded.

'This is too easy; do they have a plan?' Kai thought and took another careful glance at the vampire, scanning them from head to toe, his gaze practically sweeping all over them.

'They really look scared, except for that black-eyed woman. Is she even scared?'

Kai stepped back a bit and studied the woman again, but then someone entered through the wrecked door.

Ella, who had just walked in, stared at the group of vampires with wide eyes.

"You were harboring vampires behind the church. You know what that means?" Kai glared at Ella, his gaze more threatening, and an oppressive aura leaked out of him.

A terrified expression appeared on Ella's face, and she plunged to her knees. "I had no idea that these people were vampires; please pardon me. I'm just a lowly businesswoman. As you can see, they came in cloaks, so I didn't see their faces. Please find it somewhere in your heart to forgive me, sir."

Ella's tone was so convincing that Kai retreated the oppressive aura billowing out of his body. Considering that Ella never had a vampire detector to know who was and was not a vampire, Kai decided to let her off the hook and not report her to the "holy court" in the royal capital city.

"For your door, I'll have it fixed before I leave." Kai spoke and walked out, pulling the chain used to restrain the vampire behind him.

On the outside, a giant flying beast with fluffy white fur landed right outside the "pleasure tavern." The beast's appearance was a bit odd, but it was magnificent, and a whitish, domineering aura could be seen emanating from it.

Due to the barrier still being up, the group of light warlocks, who had arrived, were forced to wait. Then, not too long again, a ripple tore through the barrier, and it shattered like glass bits before vanishing as though it hadn't been there to begin with.

When the light dome was created, all the customers in the tavern were terrified out of their wits. They all attempted to escape, but any time they collide with the barrier, they'll be sent crashing back several meters.

A few earth warlocks, who were known for manipulating the very earth to any shape they wanted, created several craters on the ground and proceeded to make an escape tunnel, but that too resulted in failure, so when the dome eventually shattered, all the customers and the whores rushed out.

Seeing them, the group of light warlocks outside created several barricades out of the light elements and tried to hold the people back.

'Are they the reason, senior called us here?' The warlocks thought as they used light skills that wouldn't cause much damage to hold back most of the people who seemed like they'd break through the barricade.

"Everyone calm down. These people are from the home church! They're here for an important meeting."

A familiar voice fell on the place, and all of them looked at the source. It was the owner of the tavern, Ella.

But this wasn't what made them silent. They became cold all of a sudden as they heard the name "Holy Church."

Due to their frenzied state, they didn't even recognize the magical elements the light warlocks used.
