Chereads / Inhuman: Strongest Lust Warlock / Chapter 31 - Assassination!

Chapter 31 - Assassination!

His three maids were engaging a woman who was shrouded in darkness as though she were darkness itself in a fierce fight.

But it would be more accurate to say this was a beatdown, as only Muna was still barely standing, her hair disheveled, and blood trickling down her nose.

Seeing the situation, Alucard quickly bolted forward as he stomped the ground, and the hard surfaces seemingly froze. Now, skidding across it, a giant blood sword appeared in his grasp, and he performed a wide horizontal swing, hoping to cleave the woman into shreds. However, before the sword could even grace her face, she turned into mist and disappeared.

"Are you guys okay?" Alucard checked on the maids who were on the floor. Luckily, they were still breathing, and except for the bruises, their injuries weren't that serious.

Making a deep cut on his wrist with his fangs, Alucard fed Siena and Nina his blood. He did the same for Muna.

Not too long again, Ella walked into the house and saw Alucard walking back and forth.

"What happened?" She asked, still feeling a bit shy despite being very mature.

"Someone sneaked in here."

"Oh?" Ella wasn't surprised this city has the most assassins, and assassination attempts were something done daily that no longer surprised her.

"You're not surprised, or did you expect this?" Alucard squinted his eyes, the aura around him becoming quite toxic.

"I didn't have anything to do with this if that's what you're thinking; the reason I wasn't shocked is that this is something that happens quite frequently in this city. Okay, since you're visitors, I guess I should do a little explaining."

"..." From Ella's explanation, this city used to be part of the light continent, which was also known as the strongest continent; the reason several warlocks and witches visited this place was because of its taverns, the liquor, prostitution, hired killings, slave trading, and most especially their auction...

It was said that these auctions were the most valuable and rare artifacts; however, what made Alucard interested in this place was its independence. Due to the fact that this city was damned and unholy, the churches detached itself from it, and now it was solely ruled by four big families.

"So you see, assassination happens daily. Even the four big families also get numerous assassination attempts." Ella concluded her explanation.

"So you think one of these big families targeted us?" A vein bulged on Alucard's neck.

"That would be...I think they came here, either aware of your identity or them." She stared at the maids.

"Use them for slave trading?" Alucard didn't know when sparks of lightning sizzled in his hands. The mere thought of his maids becoming slaves makes him bitter.

"But how... how did they know about our identity?"

"The four big families are more dangerous than you could think. First, they have thousands of henchmen, all of whom are above "Tire 5," while their patriarchs are all above "Tire 7."

From Lucy, Alucard had learned a bit of the power scale of this world. According to the ghost, this world had 7 magical tiers, with the rare legendary tier being the 'Inhuman'

These tiers were determined not just because of their strengths and talents; they were also determined through a set of trials the warlock or witch must complete to be ranked. And with each tier, the difficulty skyrockets. The gap between tier 1 and Tier 2 was a whole different realm.

Alucard inwardly shuddered as he thought about the trials of the fabled "Tier 7" and the "Inhuman Tier."

Alucard didn't know about this before because only Siena, who was unranked among the sister trio, had magic. Muna and Nina were just normal vampires.

(AN: Tier trials are conducted in the adventure office; yes, there are guilds and monsters.)

"So this big four, you say, where do they live?"

"Master, please don't do anything stupid," Siena and Nina said at once, startling Alucard.

"Don't do anything stupid." came Muna's cold voice as she glared furiously at him. She had once lost someone very important to her; that alone took a heavy toll on her, and she wasn't ready to lose another person again.

"What? I'm just asking, not like I'll go fight them."

After saying that line, the maids all gave their master a careful look; they didn't believe him in the slightest.

Alucard turned to Ella, who was standing on the other side. She felt a little awkward. Knowing the reason for his look, she answered:

"The four big families stay in what we called the "golden district"—the name sounds like crying, I know, but it's called that for a reason."

After hearing this, Alucard walked towards the window. The wind rustled, hitting his face as his red eyes narrowed. His maids were his, the only family he had, and he wouldn't sit blindly and watch them get murdered right under his nose.

If he wasn't the strongest, then so what? He just had to train and become stronger—like it or not, those Big Four had just pissed him off.

They were strong, that much he knew, but strong men also died, right? Staying in the streets almost all his life taught him one thing.

How did he do all that? By being decisive and using his brain, he survived.

"Ella, come over; do you mind telling me more about these big four?"

The moment those big four ever looked at those he cared about, they were already damned!
