Sheng Tian spent several days looking for a storm that he could handle. Some were simply too strong while others were way too weak. He would rather not get blown to shreds by a single bolt of lightning nor would he want to get tickled by several hundred strikes only to obtain superficial benefits.
And then he thought of something. He climbed to the peak of the tallest mountain he could find here. Any magical beasts that were in his way were quickly dealt with. Sheng Tian could see dark clouds hanging miles above him.
There was a certain metal in the spatial ring he got from the youth of Flowing Wind Pavilion. Its name is Elemental Void Ore and it has the ability to attract all elements. While he was taking it out, he saw another spatial ring that he had forgotten about. It was Mo Nian's spatial ring.
Sheng Tian decided that he would check it out after he broke through to the next realm.
Using his alchemy flame, he melted the ore and fashioned a huge pole. The moment he set it into the ground the surrounding clouds started to gather and he hurriedly climbed and balanced himself at the top. With the amount of Elemental Void Ore he used it is likely that the lightning he would be struck with will be extremely powerful. The Elemental Void Ore would help him absorb a bit of the lightning and store it, allowing him to use it for later.
The clouds above churned as lightning crackled within it. Sheng Tian could see that the clouds were getting denser and its aura grew tremendously.
BOOM!
A dark purple thunderbolt struck Sheng Tian like an angry god of the sky.
"Ugh!"
The lightning wreaked havoc within Sheng Tian's meridians though thanks to the Meridian Tempering Pills he had consumed he didn't immediately explode.
Sheng Tian grit his teeth as veins could be seen on his head. The metal pole under him absorbed a lot of the destructive force from the lightning, leaving him with a manageable amount of lightning. It circulated throughout his body and continuously tempered his qi and blood. In his right hand he held the xiantian dao stone that reacted with the lightning. Profound symbols and comprehensions appeared in his head as he absorbed the lighting.
He was barraged with even more lightning. His skin had become charred and blood seeped out of cracks in his body. All the magical beasts in the area had long run away for fear of dying to the terrifying storm.
"Compress!"
Sheng Tian made several hand signs and the lightning wrecking his body started flowing towards his chest. Though this lightning possessed great power, Sheng Tian didn't want to use the dao seed with it. So instead, he opted to condense a rune on his body that will allow him to use this destructive lightning.
A deep purple dragon tattoo formed on his chest. To his surprise, the tattoo started absorbing the qi in the air. It was a pleasant surprise as it meant that this purple lightning tattoo did not have limited uses and would replenish itself.
His aura had grown many times after being tempered by the dark lightning. A huge vortex formed and rapidly absorbed the abundant and pure qi in a hundred mile radius.
Clouds began condensing above Sheng Tian again, though this time it was much darker and the lightning crackling in the clouds was a light blue tint with a slight gold aura. He got off the metal pole and stored it in his spatial ring.
A bolt of tribulation lightning struck down and Sheng Tian replied with a fist.
BOOM!
The lightning was obliterated and the lightning energy containing heaven's lightning laws was absorbed by Sheng Tian. He then stored that chaotic energy inside his dantain and core and started dispersing it throughout his meridians.
The cloud in the sky made an ear piercing screech as it witnessed Sheng Tian taking its lightning and sent down another bolt. This time it was stronger than the previous and made him cough a bit of blood.
And then there was a third, and a fourth, then a fifth.
Each one split Sheng Tian's skin though thanks to his powerful and tenacious body, he quickly recovered to an extent.
The tribulation cloud contained a small piece of heaven's will, and it was angry at Sheng Tian who was absorbing every last bit of lightning into his body.
Its aura grew as it sent down a sixth strike, seventh, and an eighth all to no avail.
Sheng Tian greedily absorbed all the lightning being sent down as if it was a buffet. His meridians and vitals were coursing with tribulation lightning that was trying to escape. This only served to help Sheng Tian as it enlarged and toughened his meridians and physical body as well as getting rid of impurities.
He smirked at the sky which only infuriated the dense cloud even more. It started to condense even more and the tribulation clouds that originally covered a ten mile radius became a dense ball the size of a man's fist.
Its aura scared every onlooker away and even made Sheng Tian slightly tense. He erupted with all of his cultivation bases and readied his fists. The ball took it as a provocation and a challenge to its status and a ten mile long lightning dragon formed with all the remaining thunderforce contained in the clouds. It roared at Sheng Tian and prepared to descend and obliterate him.
"The mighty Heavens seem weaker than I thought. You can't even deal with a measly mortal cultivator like me?"
His words cut like a knife and the lightning dragon roared again and dived headfirst towards Sheng Tian.
Sheng Tian responded with a roar of his own that carried his will to defy the rulers. His fist was covered in scales and a dense layer of qi and he punched the head of the dragon.
The shockwave generated by the clash uprooted any trees and flattened mountains in a fifty mile radius. The result of that clash was decided in an instant. The lightning dragon roared in pain and eventually dispersed. Sheng didn't spare any of that lightning and stored it all in his body.
The amount of lightning contained in that dragon far surpassed the previous eight. It was like comparing a river to a raging sea.
Sheng Tian smiled despite his bloody appearance. His strength had grown several times more after that and now he had officially entered the Foundation realm.
