Chapter 28 - 28- Another inheritance

The man suddenly made a statement with a tone of surprise and appreciation, " It seems that you have already managed to refine 60% of the blood. Your abilities are proving to be far more valuable than I had initially thought "

Zhong Peng inquired with a keen sense of curiosity, " Please tell, how long have I remained in the state of deep cultivation? I was so engrossed in refining the blood that the passage of time seemed to elude me "

"You have been present here for four complete days," the man said.

With a tone of shock evident in his voice, Zhong Peng exclaimed, "What?!" a realization then dawned upon him that if he had indeed been present here for four days, then the cloud-gathering event would take place on the following day.

He had already promised Duan Xue that he would regroup with their team a day before the gathering, so he could get to know them better. "Might I respectfully request that you send me back," Zhong Peng implored, fully aware of the immense power that the crimson blood he had received from the man had granted him. "Rest assured, I shall return immediately after the cloud gathering," he added with the utmost deference.

With a solemn voice, the man responded, "There would be no need for you to return, as this is a personal space that I created during my time, unfortunately, it has lost much of its power over time, and can only transport you back here one more time before its inevitable destruction."

" When might I be able to return here again " inquired Zhong Peng.

" When you become strong enough to, the moment at which you attain sufficient strength to withstand the complete power of the inheritance," the man said.

"How shall I discern the point at which my strength is deemed sufficient?" inquired Zhong Peng.

"When the time comes you will know," the man said.

"May I inquire, does the inheritance not also entail the prospect of continuing your lineage?" Zhong Peng asked.

"As I previously stated, when the opportune moment presents itself, all shall be made clear to you. For the present, however, concentrate on refining the blood I have imparted to you and advancing your cultivation " proclaimed the man, "Nevertheless, be aware that the path that lies ahead of you is fraught with peril, be prepared for what is to come, for you are now fated to engage in a momentous struggle filled with warfare and bloodshed I hope that you will read your mind and you are being accordingly " he added.

"what conflict and bloodshed do you speak, sir," asked Zhong Peng, his terror evident in his tone.

The man, however, did not give Zhong Peng a response to his query instead, he promptly dispatched him from the private space caught off guard by the sudden turn of events, Zhong Peng was at a loss.

As soon as he regained his composure, he realized that he was still in the same room as before, and the box remained in its place, the sword had completely disintegrated into dust.

As Zhong Peng remained lost in thought, a sudden burst of light jolted him back to reality, he swiftly turned his head and beheld the symbol on the gauntlet which lay beside the box, to his amazement, the symbol began to stir as if it were imbued with life.

Gradually, the emblem started taking on a more lifelike form. After a few moments, the symbol transformed into a juvenile serpent. On closer inspection, one could discern that the serpent bore a crimson scarlet scale emerging from its body. Zhong Peng was left flabbergasted by what he had just witnessed.

" To imagine that a frail and ineffectual individual such as yourself would be my master upon my awakening, such a fate is more abhorrent than death " a voice abruptly resonated in Zhong Peng's mind, causing him to gasp in astonishment h nearly ran out of the room.

" Who is there " exclaimed Zhong Peng, jolting up from his position and assuming a defensive stance, as if prepared for combat.

"The one talking to you is right in front of you, you idiot! "the same voice reiterated.

As Zhong Peng scanned his surroundings, he caught sight of the young serpent positioned directly in front of him, staring intently at him.

The expression on the serpent's face conveyed a deep sense of disappointment toward Zhong Peng. It was at that moment that Zhong Peng realized that the voice he had heard earlier had emanated from the serpent itself. How on earth could a serpent possess the ability to speak? Zhong Peng was thoroughly taken aback by this unexpected revelation.

" Are you the one who spoke earlier? " Zhong Peng asked curiously.

"I was the one who spoke, you moron " the young serpent retorted, its voice still tinged with disappointment as far as Zhong Peng could discern.

"What exactly are you, how can a serpent speak, " Zhong Peng asked curiously.

"I am not a serpent, don't ever call me that again, my name is Longwei, and I am a weapon spirit," said the serpent sternly. His voice was filled with anger, and intense killing intent was focused on Zhong Peng, who felt chills run down his spine.
