Adam's voice was clear as he stated. No hesitation nor doubts could be seen in him.
"What did you say?"
"I said. She doesn't. No matter what she might have said. Those words will not be what she thought inwardly."
Adam was rarely this adamant when it came to things that did not directly concern him. But he wanted to push those words out. Mark was something of a friend after all.
Mark stopped and looked at Adam but Adam held his gaze without flinching. This time, his face had no joking expression, "I have been in a similar situation. So I can understand what your sister feels. Betrayal, doubts, fears, anger, and disconnect from reality. I felt all those things but — I never hated the one who did her best to protect me."
This situation was very similar to what he lived with Cecilia. No matter how one sliced it, she had been lying to him for 21 years about his origin.
