A corner of Zane's lips tugged up in a shifty smile. He grinned at Aiden like a rich schoolboy who was flaunting the big bag of colorful candies in front of a poor classmate.
He expected to get some reaction out of Aiden. Fury or sadness, both were equally good. Anything but the haughtiness that did not befit a human being.
"Please," Aiden said meekly with an expressionless face.
"..."
"..."
"What's this?" Zane scrunched up his face from disgust. "Have you no pride? Don't you need to preserve your dignity? You say 'please' so easily. This is so unsatisfying!!!"
Aiden launched at him and grabbed his collar with both hands.
"I already said 'please'," he reminded the vampire. "I will say it as many times as you need, now tell me where he is. Don't you understand? This is a matter of life and death...!!!"
"... Tsk. Fine."
Zane pushed Aiden away from him.
"What is your friend's name?"
"Harvey Irving," Aiden readily answered.
