As instructed by Ryan, Aiden was not given his own bedroom. The young man did not feel comfortable about going to sleep while Ryan was out of the mansion, facing danger on his own.
Aiden regretted that he was only a weak human being who could not contribute much to Ryan's life. He even needed Ryan to protect him.
Despite the restlessness, eventually, drowsiness set in, and Aiden fell asleep while sitting on the couch, waiting for his lover to come back.
Ryan came back almost two hours past midnight. The bed was empty, and the person that was supposed to lie on it was curled up on the couch.
A soft sigh escaped the vampire. He took off his coat and tossed it to the floor.
Then Ryan gently lifted Aiden into his arms and carried him to the bed.
"Mm... you are back," Aiden mumbled, awake from the movements.
"Why are you not sleeping on the bed?" Ryan asked, kissing Aiden on the side of his head.
"I was waiting for you."
Ryan tucked Aiden in and rubbed his head.
"Go to sleep."
