Chapter 4 - Old Friend or New Foe?

Running to the first floor, Reginald was panting heavily. He looked up again at the building where he saw the figure, but didn't see anyone again.

Ding.

His eyes widened, this time he heard it clearly.

He turned his head and saw someone wearing a cloak that reached to the feet, a hood shadowing the face. The wind blew, and a gloved hand quickly held the hood from blowing away.

'W-who are you?' He wanted to ask out loud, but felt the words unable to come out. Because a part of him felt like this person was very familiar, the presence felt like he was meeting someone close.

The person's hand clutched the hood tightly from being blown away, their right sleeve also fluttering with the cloak.

The whole time Reginald felt their gaze on him.

Even though time is moving normally, it felt as if someone pressed the pause button between them.

Time slowly resumed as the person faced away, their arm dropping to their side while the hood also dropped.

Before he could even get a glimpse of the head, they seemed to have disappeared.

Standing there, the wind hadn't stopped blowing as he kept looking at the spot where the mysterious figure left.

Eventually, he slowly lifted his feet, turning around and walking back to school.

Glancing up to see only a few people walking along the corridor.

He heaved a sigh, and went up to his class.

The figure appeared at another place, standing on the roof of a building.

"What brings you here? Mysterious stranger." The young boy asked, his purple eyes seemed to be shining as he stared at the figure.

The figure didn't say anything, and just walked to the edge, sitting down beside him a few metres apart.

"Have you stopped growing?" He tilted his head to the side, looking at the mysterious figure's face.

The light shining on a girl that looked 14, her brown hair tied as it fluttered with the wind, her eyes that looked tired. There was what looked like a birthmark across her eyes like a mask.

"No." She sighed, glancing at him, "What will happen if I push you off?"

"I doubt you would." He grinned, "You don't feel like the type that would."

She turned back, looking down at the busy street.

"Were you the one that gave us the dream?" He asked, "You know my kind doesn't really sleep, so why?" He also turned and looked at the busy street.

She didn't straight away reply, letting the silence sink in.

"I can't use magic. So I can't do that." She finally replied, "Someone else did."

"Your partner?" He pinched his chin, "You know the theory of birthmark? How you die, shows in your next life." He turned to look at her.

"Why bring this up?" She looked away, avoiding his gaze.

"Say, it's getting late." He said, noticing the sky getting darker, "They say, demons get stronger when the sun sets. While angels get stronger when the sun rises. But for humans? It's time to sleep. So I ought to go to sleep now." He slowly moved away from the edge while standing up.

"Mysterious Figure, do you have a name I can call you by? Without getting myself killed of course." He slowly frowned as he ended the sentence, "You can call me (error), or Wirt." He slowly stretched his arms, "So what's your name?"

"I'm surprised no one spotted us." She scratched her head, as she felt water droplets falling on her hand, "Ah." She looked up, and saw clouds gathering and becoming darker, "My name? Call me Rin." She pulled her hood up to her head, "Wirt, I hope we can meet again like this."

She leaned forward, and fell down.

Wirt quickly ran forward, peeking at the edge only to see she had disappeared. He chuckled to himself as he pulled his torn hood to his head. His hair escaping through the holes of the hood as he slowly back away.

"Crazy."
