Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Last One Remaining

Drip Drip Drip

Blood dripped off, Mute's chin. As he inhaled deeply, the sudden black flashes had completely stunned him. But with time ticking, only ten seconds remained until Mute's domain activated. Yuta knew this and waited before a black barrier appeared in an instant, darkness enveloped him masking his body and vision.

Yuta stared into the darkness before he inhaled and listened to a voice speaking.

" You truly surprised me. I didn't think you would put up such a fight but this is over. We both know this, Yuta. " Yuta could only let out a weak chuckle, what Mute had said was the complete truth, in that final exchange. Yuta had used most of his curse energy.

Yuta kept staring into the darkness before he felt a palm press onto his chest. Yuta let out a final grin before in an instant, curse energy poured into his body, as fierce pain coursed through his veins, making his blood boil like steaming water. However, the pain wouldn't last long. In an instant, the top half of Yuta's body was annihilated. Making his legs fall onto the ground, as Mute's domain, slowly faded away.

The cruel scene of Yuta's corpse was illuminated in sunlight, as Mute felt the gazes of several people prompting him to glance to his right, Mute locked eyes with Kusakabe whose face was covered in shock. Directly in front of him was a battered Mahito and Yuji. Mahito was kneeling in front of Yuji.

Mahito's eyes had no life in them, it was quite obvious that Yuji had successfully defeated him. Kusakabe quickly reached to his waist grabbing onto the hilt of his blade while waving his other hand.

" Hey! Bad news, Yuta lost. " Panda could only nod his head reluctantly agreeing with his statement, Panda's body shook rapidly, as Kusakabe got ready to engage Mute, knowing that it would end with certain death. However, before he could make a move, a sudden voice surprised both Kusakabe and Mute.

" You sure took your time, didn't you Mute, you were dragging out the fight on purpose, but why? " Said Kenjaku who had appeared at the scene with Uraume standing directly next to him. Mute didn't answer his question, instead, he asked one.

" How did you get through my veil? " Kenjaku just grinned before answering.

" I'm the one that taught you how to create one? Obviously, I would know the weakness of it. " Mute nodded before he oddly glanced over at Mahito whose face was covered in fear. Mahito locked eyes with Mute before his body vanished and reappeared in front of Kenjaku. The sudden disappearance of Mahito stunned Yuji, who snapped his head towards Geto.

Yuji expected Mahito to look relieved that Kenjaku was in front of him, but instead, he looked more terrified than faced with the angry Yuji. Mahito could only murmur out a few words.

" I knew it- " Before Mahito could finish speaking, his body was forcefully pulled towards Kenjaku's palm. Mahito let out screams of horror, as he tried to flee from Kenjaku's curse manipulation but it was no use, after a few seconds of struggling, Mahito was turned into a gleaming ball, that was tightly secured in his palm.

Kenjaku stared down at the ball in his palm with a cruel grin on his face. Mute and the others watched as he swallowed the ball whole before he spoke.

" Do you know the benefit of this curse technique? "...

As Kenjaku began to explain the benefit several feet away, Hakari could be seen standing next to Shoko surrounded by hundreds of curses. Hakari glared at the curses before he spoke agitatedly.

" Damn it, If I knew there was this many curses. I would have run. " Hakari had slaughtered hundreds of curses, yet there was no sign of the horde of curses ending. Hakari glanced down at Shoko who was sitting on the ground with her eyes avoid of energy. She had almost used all of her energy to heal, Yuta and Hakari.

Hakari glanced around before with his newly healed hands, he made a hand sign and spoke. His curse output exploded and the air around him swirled wildly. Making his hair flow wildly in the wind.

" Idle Death Gamble. "...
