Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Alliance

Three days after Halloween, in a large town right outside Kyoto, in the middle of a large crowd walking through a busy street. Mute could be seen walking through the crowd, wearing a grey hoodie and black sweatpants. He was drinking a box of apple juice, with a bored look on his face.

Mute spit the straw out of his mouth before crumbling the box and tossing it onto the ground. Mute calmly slipped through the crowd, until the sound of sprinting footsteps entered his ears. Mute glanced to the right before seeing a teenage black-haired girl with pink highlights staring at him angrily.

" You shouldn't litter. You know it's bad for the environment. "

Mute stared at the girl before he scoffed. The teenage girl watched him scoff in her face and was about to yell until a massive wave of killing intent engulfed her body. Her legs started to wobble, as sweat poured down her face. She swallowed her breath before slowly walking away from Mute terrified.

Mute watched the girl slowly walk away before he shook his head and started to walk forward slipping through the crowd. Mute walked as his footsteps echoed out until it was abruptly covered with a loud yawn. Mute yawned loudly while covering his mouth. He was clearly bored. Mute glanced to his right before he pivoted his lead foot and started to walk towards a white brick wall.

Mute leaned back first on the wall, with his arms crossed. Mute stared blankly at the floor in front of him before his eyes locked on the snake wrapped around his wrist. The snake had unbitten his tail and had his small green head high in the air. Mute stared at the snake before a grin appeared on his face.

As Mute grinned, the walking crowd in front of Mute came to a confused stop. The sound of thunderous footsteps was crashing towards him. Mute listened to the crashing footsteps like it was music before he spoke as he enlarged the snake wrapped around his wrist.

" Looks like he started earlier than planned. "

As soon as Mute finished his sentence, a massive brick building next to him was violently destroyed as a burly pale curse came crashing through the building. The crowd stared at the destroyed building in shock before they started to run.

The fragments of the destroyed building came crashing down on top of the crowd, crushing them to death. The massive curse started to look around before stomping on humans. While the curse went on a rampage. Mute reached into the snake's mouth before pulling out a cloak and black mask.

Mute put on the mask before clipping the cloak on. Mute started to walk past the massive curse slaughtering the crowd of people before he looked up into the sky and watched as a black barrier spewed down from the sky. Mute looks forward walking through a horde of people sprinting for their lives.

Mute walked towards the edge of the black barrier before he glanced to his right and watched as Mimiko walked towards him holding on to a plushie with a noose wrapped around its neck. Mute glanced above Mimiko's head staring at several dead bodies dangling from a light pole. Mimiko stopped a couple of feet away from Mute and spoke to him while a crowd of terrified humans ran past them.

" Geto has told me to come here and apologize for him. He says he's sorry for starting early. "

Mute just shook his head and responded.

"It's fine, I was bored anyway. But where's Nanako? "

Mimiko pointed at a tall building behind Mute before speaking.

" She's currently on the tallest building in this city, observing the situation. But she texted me earlier and told me to tell you, that you shouldn't litter. "

An annoyed look appeared under Mute's mask before he sighed loudly and spoke.

" We kill hundreds of humans a day, and yet littering is the crime that crosses the line... "

Mimiko grins at Mute before she talks again.

" Well, littering is a far worse offense than killing a human. With littering, you're hurting the world but killing humans relieves the world of their parasitic tendencies, so I have to agree with Nanako. "

Mute stares at Mimiko before he walks past her while chuckling. Mute approaches the black barrier and stops a couple of feet away from it before he looks back at Mimiko and speaks.

" You make a fair point. I'll see you after Geto closes the barrier. "

Mimiko watches as Mute walks through the black barrier disappearing...

Outside the black barrier, a group of five sorcerers could be seen. They appeared after sensing the sudden powerful cursed energy and seeing a black barrier. The group quickly responded trying to save citizens but clearly, it was too late and they were trapped in the barrier.

The group walked towards the barrier glancing at each other until a blonde woman leading the group looked back and spoke.

" If there's a barrier of this size, this can only be Geto's work, I think it'll be best if we just run or wait for a first-grade or Gojo to appear. "

An elderly woman at the back of the group looked at the young girl with a disgusted look before she spoke with disdain in her voice.

" When we became sorcerers we promised to serve our purpose of saving humans to the fullest extent, instead here you're planning on letting hundreds die because you're afraid to die. Do you hear her Kenta? "

The elderly woman looked over at a middle-aged man. The middle-aged man stared forward ignoring them before he let out an annoyed sigh and spoke.

" Hey, there's no point in bickering like children. We need to focus on finding the best plan that will save as many people as we physically can save. And in my opinion, the best plan to take is-"

Before the man could finish his sentence he suddenly felt something leaning on his right shoulder. He glanced down at his shoulder before seeing an elbow covered in a cloak. The man's eyes widened realizing Mute was leaning on his and the elderly woman's shoulders.

Mute could be heard chuckling before he cockily spoke.

" There's no need to make a plan, this is as far as you will go. "...
