Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Goodbye

" ...Never let your emotions overwhelm you. "

Null watches as her brother nods his head towards her. Null smirks as she slowly starts to walk away from her brother while playfully waving her hand towards him. Mute watches as Null's body flickers and she disappears into the intense blizzard.

Mute takes a deep breath before reaching into his cloak and pulling out his phone. He starts to scroll through the black market as hundreds of thoughts run through his head...

I need to accept another request. That last request was far too easy I only accepted it because Geto was the one that requested it. I fought Mei Mei last time I accepted a request from him. I scrolled through the dark market trying to find a request that would be difficult. The requests on the black market haven't changed much. The majority of them are asking for the death of a cheating spouse or someone's boss.

I keep scrolling through the black market until a notification appears on my phone. Looks like Geto has sent me a message. I tapped on the notification and read the message.

" It's good to see that you're still alive Mute. Sorry for wasting your time on my last request. I was checking to see if you were still alive. My next request will be something about your skill level. "

I quickly responded telling him that he was fine. It only takes a few seconds for Geto to respond back to me. The message reads.

" Good, but I have a question for you. What do you think about meeting me tomorrow? In a temple in Tokyo? I think we should team up. I'll explain my ideals to you there. "

I read the message and pondered it to myself. I guess it would make sense if I agreed to meet him. He was best friends with Gojo and could know one of his weaknesses and besides this was my original plan anyway. I send him a thumbs up emoji as I quickly turn off my phone and slide it back into my cloak.

I start to walk through the blizzard heading towards the wooden shack. I leave a trail of footprints leading away from the dead bodies lying on the ground slowly being covered with pure white snow. While walking away from the bodies I start to notice that the wind from the blizzard is starting to speed up. My hair blows wildly as I exhale a cold breath making fog appear out of my mouth. I ignore the increase in wind speed and start walking before I glance at the floor and realize that the sound on the ground is building up far faster than usual. The tracks I made behind me have already disappeared.

Is something going on? I start looking around trying to find something odd. I look through the dense blizzard before my vision suddenly becomes clear. The falling snow has disappeared. I look up and my eyes widen. The falling snowflakes have become motionless. The snowflakes float in the sky unmoving as a holy humming noise enters my ears.

What the hell is going on? I look around until at the top of this mountain's summit I sense a sudden massive wave of cursed energy. I snap my head towards the summit as a blinding pillar of light emerges from the top of the mountain. Motionless snowflakes start to swirl in the sky. I watch the majestic snowflakes twirl towards the beam of light being absorbed by the light. With every snowflake absorbed the amount of cursed energy increases.

I stare at the beam of light until after a few minutes it slowly fades away turning into yellow particles. The ground under my feet started to tremble as the snow started to fall again. But I didn't pay attention to the falling snow. My eyes were locked on the top of the mountain. I sense a massive cursed energy on the top of the mountain. I stare at the mountain until I feel a set of powerful eyes lock onto my body.

It was clear to me now. A powerful cursed spirit had just been born at the summit of this mountain...
