On the bustling street of Tokyo, Suzune was looking out of the windshield of her private vehicle, overlooking the never-ending rows of vehicles in front of her.
She looked at her cell phone to see the time.
"Oh no, I am going to be late for an exam!" she exclaimed, there are only fifteen minutes left before the exam started and they are seven hundred meters away from the school she is currently attending.
"I apologize, Suzune-same, I didn't anticipate the heavy traffic."
"It's okay, I just have to make a run for it. That way, I can still make it on time!" Suzune replied as she exited the car quickly, leaving a stunned driver behind her.
The girl then began running towards the university building, passing by a lot of people that were walking around the crowded pavement. Her long black hair flowed like a river behind her and her loose hair caught the passing breeze and drifted in front of her face. She pushed the strands aside but strands of hair were falling from her forehead over her eyes and cheekbones. People on the street turned their heads to watch as she ran past, mesmerized by her beauty. Her hard-soled shoes made a slapping sound against the pavement, causing her short skirts to flutter about her thighs.
Her heart was pounding fast, her legs were trembling and sweat started forming on her forehead. She wasn't used to running over long distances but for the sake of her grades, she will do everything she can to take the exam. It's not a matter of choice, it is a must. She has prepared herself for this day, reviewing all her notes and studying whenever she has free time, she can't let it go to waste! Not when she has a position to maintain.
Suzune is a top student at the prestigious high school university in Tokyo. She is smart and the sole daughter of the owner of the largest conglomerate in Japan whose total assets are one trillion United States dollars. She is a genuine young woman with brilliant talents from different fields such as arts, music, mathematics, and science.
Twelve minutes later, she screeched to a halt in front of the pedestrian crossing leading up to the school's main entrance. At last, she arrived but with only three minutes left, she didn't care about looking at both sides of the road to see incoming vehicles. Her mind is occupied by the thought of arriving at school on time.
So without hesitation, she crossed the pedestrian lane. Suddenly, a blaring honk of a truck speeding through the intersection caught her attention. Suzune froze completely in place as if the temperature dropped to absolute zero. A look of panic painted on her features as the thought of death crossed her mind. She closed her eyes and braced for impact.
It was a futile attempt she made. She knew she was going to die due to the speed of the truck. The sound around her started to deafen as if a void of darkness enveloped the entire area surrounding her.
A tear escaped from her shut eyes and rolled down her right cheek. In a state of complete surrender, Suzune waited for death to hit. And there, she felt a force from her side, knocking her away.
The collision wasn't painful, in fact, it was the opposite as she felt two arms embracing her tightly from the side. The truck passed by her and the sensation of her falling down to the ground took hold of her. At that moment, she noticed it was a man who saved her life. He held her so tight against his chest, shielding her with his body from the impact as they landed on the ground and rolled a few times before stopping.
Suzune let out a groan as she slowly opened her eyes and gaze at the man who saved her. "Are you okay..." the moment she saw the man's face, time seemed to have slowed down. "So...dazzling..."
Her eyes trailed over his pale white features. The hard square of his jaw was offset by the curve of his full lips. His straight nose, framed in dark brown hair, looked like it had been sculpted in marble. His long eyelashes almost made her swoon as they brushed against his high cheekbones. His light blue eyes reminded her of the ocean sparkling against a sapphire sky. He really was too beautiful for words; he was as if he had stepped out of the covers of a manga or a visual novel and into real life. It feels like she had seen this face before in a movie as his face is similar to one of the actors there. What was the name of the movie again? Ah, the Count of Monte Cristo. He looked similar to the actor who played Albert Mondego
Speaking of that topic, his clothes are, how can she describe this? Very out of style. He wore a white suit with ruffled feathers on his lapel. Golden epaulets hung from his shoulders like golden chains. The whole ensemble evokes a vibe of a nineteenth-century nobleman, or perhaps a prince.
Why is he wearing such a suit? Is there a historical romance series shooting nearby her school? She wondered.
"Miss, are you alright?!" The people began rushing in their direction after noticing that the accident had been avoided, yet Suzune's gazes were still locked on the stranger who had saved her. Strangely, she can't get her eyes away from him, it's like she is drawn to his existence. There was something about him that drew her in like a bee attracted to light.
Noticing such an expression, the man returned a dazzling yet reassuring smile of his own. He slowly lifted his upper body and looked around and observed many people surrounding them.
"Are you alright, my lady?" the man finally spoke, yet it wasn't Japanese. Well, that's a given since he doesn't look Japanese. The language is foreign, English to be exact.
Oh no! Worried hung over the girl like a cloud of fog. She can't understand him as she's still learning English. Before she could grab her phone from her bag to open a translator app, the man had already risen to his feet and pulled her from her delicate hands.
'He's tall,' she noted, probably over six feet.
The people around them started throwing questions about their welfare.
"Do we have to call an ambulance? Are you hurt?" The men present in the scene asked her whereas the girls took a picture of the man who saved her.
"You're so handsome, sir! Where are you from?"
"Do you speak English?"
"He's tall and the structure of his face is just too perfect...like a prince straight out of a romance visual novel!"
Elliot didn't understand them, he simply smiled at them with a nod. The girls suddenly squealed while the women tried to touch his arm in a flirty manner.
"I'm okay, I'm not hurt," Suzune answered before drifting her gaze back to the man. "Sir, do you speak English?" she said in English.
"English? So that is the name of my native language here in this world?" The man replied in a deep soothing voice.
Suzune tilted her head to the side, he was speaking so fast that she couldn't understand him.
"Uhm...I would like to thank you for saving me back there," she voiced her message to the translator app and held it up in front of him as she bowed politely.
Elliot gazes at the strange mechanical device the girl is holding up in front of him. He inspected it with his eyes until the device spoke in his language.
"Ahh…!" Elliot let out a startled gasp and took a step back reflexively. The device is speaking! How is it happening? And what's more strange is that it is thanking him. Why? What did he do?
His eyes widened as he realized the answer. It must be some sort of translator device.
"Please don't mention it," the man replied, smiling kindly at her. "A fine lady such as you should be careful crossing the road. I don't know what that metal contraption that was about to run you over but I believe it is as dangerous as the horse charging at you."
Suzune's phone translated his reply.
The metal contraption, horses? What is he talking about? He may speak in elegance but his choice of words is distracting her.
Her phone buzzed in her hands. She turned the phone and checked the notification. Her eyes widened in shock.
"Oh no! My exams!" she exclaimed in Japanese. "Uhm...sir, I will thank you formally after my class. Please accept this. You can contact me there."
She handed over a small card with a number on it. The man looked at it bafflingly. Without the translation device, he won't be able to understand her.
Just as he was about to ask her a question, she already left, towards a large metal gate with a huge building behind it. A university perhaps? He noticed that she was wearing a uniform so it might be the case.
However, it's unfortunate that he didn't get to ask for her name. Nevertheless, young girls between the age of sixteen and twenty surrounded him like bees. Why are they frolicking around him? If this was in his world, they would have been shoved away by his guards and possibly be arrested but he doesn't have them here.
He needs to get out of here and study his circumstances. He can't do that if he's getting this much attention.
"Sorry young ladies! I have to go!" Elliot ran away from the crowd, his destination? To the place where no one would bother him.
Meanwhile, while Suzune was running toward her classroom, she realized something.
"I forgot to ask for his name and contact info!"
