"Huh? How do you know this name?" I tell him, surprised.
"AHAH! It's really you?! No wonder you're this good.. Alright, I'll tell you how if you win this game. Sounds fair to you?" He responded.
Damnit, I'd never thought someone would recognize me outside the game, Hisgard was the name I used when I still played this game, I was the number 1 player, even amongst the pros in the top 10, I was still number 1, and Joker, was a close 2nd behind me.
"I'll get my revenge Hisgard, I'll never forget what happened in that championship." He spat.
"..If you say so.." I muttered
In that championship, I played with special methods that specifically countered the strategies of Joker's team, I was solo queuing so I didn't have a team but we still communicated enough to secure the finals.
While he ambushed me, killing several strong pawns of mine, I managed to get a glance at his champion; Loki. Fucking hell, the only one which I didn't want him to pick.
"Loki? Do you even know how to play him?" I said, provoking him.
"Were-Half? Do you even know how to play him?" He threw back.
Alright.. This is gonna be a long game, focus, get his pawns, while also ordering my ranged pawns to attack him so he backs off, and push aggressively to secure the kill and the win. Easy enough.
10 seconds later; I managed to do what I wanted to do, now, the kill, using "Lunge" I will literally lunge myself at him and grappling him so that my pawns can finish him off, thankfully, he is still in the middle of the lane so the towers don't have enough range to fire at us.
"You're dead," I said to him. "You don't have any pawns left and you're alone, you've lost Joker, admit it."
"Ha! I haven't said my last words!" He shouted.
What the fuck? He used "Mind-Trick"? From that distance? And it worked? We were far beyond the 7 meters range! How?!
"How? How the fuck you used "Mind-Trick" from that distance?"
"Honestly, I got a "Book Of Arcadia" from the shop, Legendary Item, I just got lucky."
"I can't relate."
Alright then, I just need to distract the mind-tricked pawns with my ranged ones and continue with my plan with the remaining pawns.
"Still going with the plan?" He said.
"You know me, once I get something in mind, I can't let it go." I answered.
"Rough thinking, I've got to say, but that's what got you to God-Rank? Ain't it?" Asked Joker.
"Correct." I replied.
I've got to say, I don't think my plan is going to work out, but still, I will work this out not matter what, after all, It's my only chance to get the "Animus".
"Lunge", I used it, and.. YES! It connected! Go my pawns! Finish him off!
"Really dude? "Lunge"? That was your plan? And then finish me off with your pawns? I guess it kind off worked because you left me at low HP with "Lunge",
"But didn't you forget something? The fact that Loki counters Were-Half for a reason."
"Oh, yeah, that's why I bought these "Climbing Gloves" since it blocks any skill or spell book uses while a grappling skill is under effect."
"Cheeky bastard. Guess I'm getting killed, 30 seconds to get my towers, my pawns will get decimated and I can't control them while I'm waiting to respawn,I've practically lost."
"Good game." I answered.
"Really? That's it? Not even a compliment? Well I can't expect that from you."
Loki has been sent to hell!
The game announced, I went on to get his towers, slaughtering his pawns in the process, and..
Were-Half has won the game!
"I'll get you someday, fucker."
"In your dreams."
We shook hands, and the prize, the 50€!
"I didn't think you'll beat him, here's your 50€ though, so about that "Animus", do you want it delivered to your home or..?"
"Oh yeah I forgot about that" I whispered. "No no, I'll just pick it up later, thanks anyways, see you later."
"What a guy."
And with that, I was gone to work. Wait, the time, what time is it? 8:56 AM, oh no...
"Welp, Now I've got to sprint to get to work in time, prepare yourself, untrained body!"
I did say that, but I'm at a comfortable 80 KGs and was in shape, I just didn't run a lot, and I went to the gym to stay in-shape.
"Huff..Huff! I'm finally at work!" I looked at my phone. "9:01 A.M, 1 minute late, good enough I guess."
"Late by 1 minute! Thought you were in a car accident! Did you go by foot or something?" My best friend, which is also my co-worker said.
"Fiuuuu... I actually did go by foot, I just got caught in a 1v1 against "Joker" to get a free "Animus".
"You're lying, THE "Joker"?! Even if you didn't lie, you would have lost anyway, right?"
"I ain't lying, Leo, and I won as well."
"You're.. pranking me.. right?!"
"Hehehe! I ain't, if you want, you can go with me after work to see my new Animus!"
"I'll kill you if you're lying, you know that?"
"Why would I lie? You know I was God-Rank at "Egis Tyrants", did you forget?"
"No I didn't! I just didn't think you would win against any pro player in a 1v1!"
"Awww, my own best friend doesn't believe in me, I'm so sad!"
"ARGHHH I'M REALLY GONNA KILL YOU THIS TIME! COME HERE!"
"HEY! YOU TWO! GET BACK TO WORK IMMEDIATELY!"
"Yes sir," We laughed our asses off quietly. "You're a dumbass Leo."
"How am I a dumbass! Is it because I'm black?"
"Yes."
"What."
"I'm just kidding, let's just get back to work."
9 hours later, we finished our shifts and Leo came with me to the shop where I got my free Animus, I haven't really looked at what it looked like before, but damn, this thing is huge.
"That's.. My Animus?" I said surprised.
"You didn't even know what it looked like!?" Leo sighed. "I think you're the dumbass!"
"Oh come on man, you know I'm not as dumb as you."
"Let's just get that damn capsule to your home so we can try it out."
"WE!? YOU THOUGHT!"
"OH HELL NAH! I BETTER TRY IT OUT TOO!"
"I was just kidding, you know I always share, right?"
"I still haven't forgotten about them candies when we were 7."
"We don't talk about that."
Leo then called his dad so that he can transport us and the Animus to my home easily with his truck.
"What's up Leo? What do you want my help for?"
"Yo dad! We need to get that capsule over there in your truck so that we can get it to my friend's house!"
"Alright, where's your friend's house at?"
"Like 2 streets away! He's gonna tell you anyway!"
It was pretty uncomfortable telling where to go to Leo's dad, but he's a chill dude, not that it really matters anyway since I got my Animus now in one of my spare room at my house.
"Soo, I gotta try it first since I won it."
"Can't argue with that."
"Yo Leo, do you know good games on the Animus that we can try out?"
"For sur bro!"
It was time to play.
