Martinez had volunteered to take me to see his grandpa's house. He was an interesting person and every moment I spent with him made me feel special. I was beginning to want our relationship to be real. I felt no reason to be jealous of Lisa and her boyfriend because Martinez was literally being the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for. And plus, I hardly got bullied by anyone.
It's been two weeks since we started hanging out with each other and I wished he could propose love to me and make the relationship real. I was clearly crushing on him and I wished he knew.
* * *
I watched Martinez slip away from class even before the teacher had concluded his teachings. I grabbed my backpack packed my books and ran out of the class. I rushed out of the school's building, right in time to sight Martinez drive his car to my direction.
" Hurry, " he screamed as he signalled for me to get into the car.
I waved my hand and ran along to the side of his car. He opened the door from the inside and I climbed in.
" Lesson's not over, " I said with a startled laughter.
" Well, fuck lessons, I wanna be with you. Don't you want to be with me? " he asked, looking at me.
Just looking at his grey eyes, I would agree to be with him, even in hell. All I wanted was his company. He made me believe I could really love someone. He made me feel loved too.
As he drove down the empty narrow street in the noon, his eyes caught up with me as I tucked my messy hair behind my ears. The demon inside him must have flared. My cheeks must have begged his attention. I thought for a moment, he was falling in love with me. But the moment didn't last. He had suddenly stepped on the brakes, causing the car to stop abruptly.
" Is that it? " I asked without thinking.
He gave me a look that must have meant, seriously?
Before I could say a word, he spoke.
" We are here. My grandpa's place. "
I nodded. " Yeah. " I looked around. " It's beautiful. "
" Wait till you see the inside of the building. The interior designs and the paintings, " he said. He came out of the car and opened my door and helped me come out of the car.
" That's too much for a gentleman, " I said cheerfully.
" I just want to be your gentleman, darling, " he said, taking my hand.
He led me to the door of the building and opened it with a key. We entered into the house.
" Your grandfather must have been freaking rich. This place is awesome. I like that paint, " I said, pointing at an oil sunflower colour.
" That used to be my grandfather's favorite color, " he said.
" Before he died? "
" No. Before he divorced my mum. . . " he said sadly.
" I'm so sorry to ask but does divorce run in your family? "
" No. My great-grandfather didn't divorce his wife. And my dad's brother didn't divorce his wife either. And I don't ever intend to divorce the woman I will get married to, " he said, walking to me.
" Oh. . . " I didn't know what to say.
" I hate breaking a relationship. . . "
" Didn't you breakup with your parents? "
" No, they broke up with me. They didn't want me, " he said, taking my hand.
" And your girlfriend? "
He bit his lips. " Seems like you know a lot about me. . . "
" No, I don't. Not really. Only a few. "
" How come I do not know this much about you? "
" You know, " I said shrugging. " The first day we met. You asked if I had a boyfriend and I just. . . "
" That was a ridiculous explanation, " he said and began to laugh.
" Why are you laughing? " I asked, taking my hands out of his. " You must also consider me a coward right? " I said, taking a step backwards.
He took a step forward. " No, I find you perfect. I really do. "
" You are just saying it to make me feel better, " I said staring at his handsome face.
" It's been two weeks since we knew each other and for those two weeks, you have been perfect. . . It's fine if you don't believe me but you need to know that every moment I spent with you meant a lot to me. I am beginning to fall in love again, " he said, looking so sincere.
I swear, I have waited for the past to weeks to hear him say something like that. I wished I saw my face. I wished it didn't give me away.
" Um. . . Why don't you show me other designs? " I asked walking away, forward into the house.
" I should show you my room, " he volunteered.
" Your room? " For what? I am not having sex, not on the first day of visiting your home.
" I know what you are thinking. I swear it is not true. I don't want____ "
I cut in. " Yeah, that would be great. "
" I thought you___ "
I cut in again. " You thought what? "
" Oh nothing. Come with me, " he said smiling.
He led me to his room.
I stood at the door shocked to see the room. It was decorated with my pictures and there was a massive bed in the middle of the room. One had to climb four staircases before one could get to the bed. It had a chandelier in the middle ceiling of the room. It was decorated with ornaments and a polished purple paint.
" Ah. . . Your room is absolutely beautiful, " the words fell out of my mouth. " But how. . . " I paused. " How did you get my pictures? "
" I took pictures of you almost everyday of the past two weeks, " he said.
" You must be a pervert. . . "
" No. . . I. . . "
" You are so rich but don't waste it on me. I'm not even your real girlfriend. . . "
" You were never my fake girlfriend___ "
" I just___ "
Martinez interrupted me, " Be my girlfriend, please? "
It was like mayhem. Finally! " You are kidding, " I said climbing up the stairs to the bed. "
He climbed up the stairs too. " I love you, " he said glancing at me. " I did from the very first day I met you. "
" I don't believe you, " I said, staring up at those convincing grey eyes.
" I won't lie to you. That's why I have your pictures in my room. We can be mad lovers, " he said, pushing my hair to the back of my ear. He placed a tender kiss on my lips, as he held my waist.
" Tell me you don't love me. Tell me you don't want me and I swear I won't force you to. . . "
I kissed his lips. " That's me telling you, I Love You Too, " I said with a smile.
He laid on the bed. I laid beside him, letting him cuddle me. It was sweet. Love was sweet. If this was really love then I hoped it would never sink like the Titanic.
" I love you, " he said to me.
" I love you too, " I said and buried my head in his arms.
" I want us to always be like this, " he said, smiling at me.
" Same as me. I. . . I don't want you to ever leave my side, " I said and kissed his neck.
" We have to go back to school before school dismisses. You don't want your mom getting mad at you. She shouldn't find out you left school and missed your classes because of a guy. "
" I don't care, " I said.
" I care. I don't want you getting into trouble, especially not because of me, " he said kissing my forehead.
I nodded.
