Chapter 34 - why?

George stared at his wife with a cold look in his eyes as they walked in.

The crowd who was still enjoying the show alerted in a second. They did not dare to behave the same but bowed their hands and turned silent as if they were trying to be invisible.

"I think we have guests to see off first." he smiled at his wife as he held her hand and pulled her towards him with his hands wrapped around her waist. She tried to smile but it was so forced that even a blind could see the difference.

The guests scattered away in a hurry when he smiled at her.

"So.. would you mind explaining what happened here?" his voice was so cold that Julia shuddered. She did not dare to raise her head with fear.

"I am sure there is some misunderstanding. My daughter would not do something like this!" she said in a low but resolute voice when he chuckled.

"Is it! Why don't we ask together then!" He held her arm and pulled her in the room when Jane took a step back.

They all knew how dangerous their fathers were. So they never dared to act freely in front of him.

"Why don't you start explaining first, Lord James? What were you doing with my second daughter when you were engaged with my first daughter?" His voice was so calm like spring water but everyone could feel the change in the flames of chandeliers around them.

"That.. i just…" he closed his eyes with fear when the candle burning near him turned into a ….. flame and he felt that it would even burn his soul.

"I apologize! It was me. I am guilty, I accept it." he kneeled instantly while his hands moved behind his back to summon his staff.

"Then we meet in the royal court and let them decide who you will marry. It would be better that you leave for now so that i can talk to my family members." he waved his hands in the air and the body of James rose high in the air. It was the flames that were holding him but it was not burning him.

Thea stared at the scene with interest. She never knew that flames could be used like that! Her eyes sparkled as she wanted to do that too but sighed when she tried to move her hands but nothing happened.

"You do not need to worry! Father will protect you?" Thea raised her head to stare at the man who was looking at her with worried eyes. She was not worried about James! She was worried about the amount of magic she could perform!

"You can leave, I will deal with it." he said but she stared at her sister showing she did not want to leave when her father sighed.

He could not blame the girl if she did not trust him.

"Since you have so much interest in marrying him then we will not stop you. Thea would break the marriage with James so that you can wed him legally." Thea raised a brow! Was that the way to deal with the matter and he was assuring so confidently to her.

"But you are no longer part of the house! You can never come back to this house or claim a part of our legacy! That includes your power." as he waved his hands this time, the color of her face changed and she fell on the ground instantly.

She tried to move her hands but her powers did not work anymore. She closed her eyes and tried her best when the flame of the candle flickered but that was it. Nothing else! She was not even able to move the flames as per her wish much less changing them into fire or extinguishing it.

"You forgot that you have powers the same as me for a reason! It was our family legacy that is passed to you in your blood. Since you are not part of the family anymore…" he did not complete his word but the meaning was clear.

"You can not be this cruel!" Julia held his hand, "my daughter is a prodigy! She will make a good name for you. You are forgetting that my daughter is your only hope." she pleaded as she pulled his hands but he only smirked.

"I am enough to make a legacy! I did not need you or your daughters to do that." he said with a smirk as he pushed her away and then took a step closer to Thea who was staring at him.

Though her gaze was not cold like before, she still did not look at him with affection or relief!

"Are you not happy with my decision?" he asked, worried that she would never accept him as father when she finally blinked.

Did that old man care? Ha! Did he think he can be a good father with a few actions?

"If you can take the power of our legacy like that, can you explain me why don't i hold the same powers as you and my sisters?"

"........"
