The group walked in silence after moving away from the Trenat's territory, its words still echoing in their minds as they ventured deeper and deeper into the forest. Nicholas, however, moved a bit closer to Lyle, a look of contemplation on his face.
"Did you mean what you said back there about the Empress?" Nicholas asked telepathically, careful not to disturb the others who walked in quiet reflection. "About her feeling the burden of this responsibility?"
Lyle nodded, his eyes focused on the darkened path before them. "Of course. We may see her as invincible, but even those at the top can feel overwhelmed."
"Lyle, how … how many times have you actually spoken to Her Majesty … I mean, you speak as if you know her."
"A … a couple of times, why … did I say anything weird?" Lyle asked Nicholas who sighed.
