The destabilization of the ley lines caused a visible ripple through the creature's domain. The lush green energy it had been channeling from the land flickered erratically before beginning to dissipate. The monster, once towering and indomitable, staggered as it lost its direct connection to the land's power.
The creature's crimson eyes flared in panic as it roared, thrashing wildly in an attempt to regain control. However, the damage had been done. The wild energy that had bolstered its strength was now leaking away, leaving it vulnerable.
Of course, not all of the wild energy would dissipate, and the monster was still incredibly powerful and dangerous. There was no time for the two combatants to completely destroy all the ley lines in the area and force the wild energy to dissipate completely as that proved to be more challenging than the Grand Elder had anticipated.
