Chereads / Yesterday's Chrysanthemum / Chapter 5 - 9:27 pm

Chapter 5 - 9:27 pm

I immediately wrote down everything I've remembered.

Sleep at 9:27 pm to meet Galene

Each being has their own "home"

1 being = 1 person (can remember everything)

Eros = 1 am

Tell her about Eros, he is her --

Suddenly, it was like my memories were wiped out. I couldn't remember what I was supposed to write next. Eros? Who is he? What's with him and 1 am? Most importantly, why do I need to tell Galene about him?

I looked at the paper and re-read everything for a few minutes. I let out a sigh and put the paper on the bed. I can't recall any of it. Why did I write that? Where did I learn it? What happened with my dream yesterday? Why don't I remember?

Well, I'll try to wrap my head around it late. First things first, I need to take a bath and eat. I've only been eating breakfast lately, I'm surprised I could still walk straight.

I went to the bathroom and took a bath. After that, I wore my white and red Lakelands jersey tee that has the number 17 and the name DK at the back. I paired it with black shorts. I walked straight to the kitchen to prepare my meal.

I grabbed the pan out of the cabinet and was about to put it down when my door suddenly busted open. I almost threw the pan, good thing I recognized Leo.

"What the hell, man?" I grumbled at him

He was wearing beige shorts, and a blue polo that he wore on top of his printed white shirt that says "But first, Coffee." He suddenly crossed his arm and raised one eyebrow at me.

"Are you seriously throwing a tantrum at 7 am?" I said and put the pan on the stove.

Before I could even turn the stove on, Leo threw a paper bag at me

"Eat this instead." He said and found his way on the couch.

"Someone's grumpy." I said and pulled the food out of the bag.

I turned my back from him and grabbed two plates.

"And someone's stupid! How could you not answer my calls?"

I could feel his gaze burning a hole on my back

"I didn't know you were calling." I answered

He scoffed at me, he's obviously offended. I bet he'll say 'are you serious right now?'

"Are you serious right now?"

There you go. I faced him while holding the utensils I was about to put on the plates.

"I was busy okay?" I said and placed the utensils down.

"Busy? Since when were you 'busy'? As far as I can remember you're only visiting the library everyday. It's impossible for you to not notice my calls!" He said in disbelief

"Well I didn't notice it, okay? Can you just let it go?" I walked towards the refrigerator and grabbed a pitcher of water.

"I can't let this go I was so worried! I thought something happened to you! I thought-" He suddenly stopped when I faced him

He was already standing near the table where I was about to place the pitcher. His eyes grew wider and he fixed his glasses.

"What? Did the sight of water stopped you from blabbering?" I sarcastically said and placed the pitcher on the table

He stood still, it was like he saw a ghost. I looked behind me but no one was there. Of course, there'll be no one there, Aziel.

I shook my head and looked at Leo

"See? You're making me think there's a ghost in my house." After what I said, he ran up

I panicked

"H-hey! What the hell's wrong with you?!" I said and ran after him

I'm not scared it was just my instinct. Like an adrenaline rush! Or like a automatic response to a reacti-

"Aziel." Leo said while looking at the room where I paint.

"Oh." I said and scratched the back of my head.

"I was going to tell you that I started painting again but, as I said, I was busy so I couldn't-"

He looked at me and grabbed my shoulders.

"W-why did you paint again? Was there a reason?" He asked continuously.

I couldn't tell him about Galene, right? He'll probably insist that I need a doctor or something.

"A-ah about that. I just started painting. I wanted to try it again. I thought maybe I could still paint despite my tremors and-"

His shoulder relaxed and he looked down.

"That's a relief." He uttered silently.

"Sure, I guess?"

He let go of me and stood straight.

"This is great news! I'm so happy for you." He said and smiled

"Thanks. So, are you done sulking?" I teased.

He lightly pushed me

"Yeah! Next time just answer your damn phone, asshole!"

I laughed at his remark and gave him a thumbs up.

"Let's just eat." He said

We both walked towards the dining table. We ate and caught up with our stories like the drama this morning never happened.

--

"Make sure you'll answer my call or leave me a text before you paint, okay?" Leo said while walking out the door

"Yes, father. I'd do what thou wish for thee to do." I said while adding some gestures.

"Shut up. Just tell me if you need anything or-"

"Bye, Leo!" I said and closed the door.

I peeked out my window and saw him raising his middle finger. I laughed and raised my middle finger at him too.

I sat down the couch and turned the tv on. I changed the channel and came across a certain show. For some reason, I didn't change the channel after that. It was a romance comedy series where the woman kept going to the bar to meet the male lead who is a bartender. She's drunk most of the time so she makes stupid mistakes from time to time.

Somehow, I know this series. Maybe Leo watches it and I kind of got the gist of it.

--

After watching the episode, I turned the tv off, then I stood up and went to my painting room. I brought the painting I made last night and put it on the wall beside the painting of Galene's garden.

"What should I paint next for her?" I uttered while staring at the paintings on the wall and tapping the end of the brush on my chin.

I grabbed the head band from my stack of unused canvas and wore it as I kept thinking of a place where I'd like to take her.

Maybe a restaurant? I could also draw some food so we could eat it while we're there. She could eat it right?

Oh, but I don't know what kind of food she likes. What if I painted steak and she's a vegetarian? That's gonna be awkward as hell.

'I like that.' A soft whisper suddenly brushed in my ear.

"Galene?" I called out but I couldn't hear it anymore.

How sure am I that its Galene's voice? What if Leo really saw a ghost this morning and-

No, stop thinking about it Aziel. I suddenly got goosebumps all over my body. Okay, I'll just paint.

By the way, I'm not scared.

--

I was halfway through my painting when my phone suddenly rang. It was Leo.

"Do you have attachment issues, Leo? Go get a girlfriend and stop bothering me." I said as soon as I answered his call.

"First of all, I don't. Secondly, shut up." He answered.

I could hear him opening up his door.

"Are you paint-"

"You're home?" I interrupted him

"Yup, it's past 9pm so I shoul-"

"What?!"

I immediately looked at the time on my phone. It's already 9:20 pm. I ran upstairs to look for the paper that I written on this morning.

"Aw! What's so shocking about 9 p-"

"Shit!"

It says I need to sleep at 9:27 pm to see Galene

"What is it?" Leo asked on the other line but I ran downstairs

"Leo I need to go I need to sleep." I said as I hid the painting of the restaurant.

Good thing I dried it before Leo called

"What do you mean you 'need' to sleep? Are you trying to escape from-"

"Bye!" I ended the call and went straight to bed.

"I hope the note is true."

I closed my eyes and waited for my consciousness to disappear.
