Adrian had driven to pick up Clara from her work that evening, but as he arrived, he saw a familiar person leaning against his car with his eyes fixed on the door.
Adrian glanced around, watching through the exiting crowd, until he noticed Regina heading out of the building.
"Still hopeless," he muttered, taking out his phone to give Clara a call.
He watched the couple, taking in their little banter, before Regina turned to leave Derek behind.
When the call was eventually answered, Adrian went ahead, informing Clara about his arrival, with her soon arriving at the spot before they drove away.
"How was your day?" Adrian asked, pulling Clara for a side hug.
"Tiring, but satisfying," Clara replied.
Clara put her head on his shoulder and shut her eyes. She had already expected this, so she refused to entertain the idea that her decision had caused the investors to talk. But what bothered her was how Adrian was supposed to deal with it.
