"You've... changed," Derek muttered, darting his eyes to the road.
Regina paused for a second and chuckled, "Why? Do you miss the former Regina who would run to you in times of need?"
Derek felt a prick in his heart at Regina's disdainful tone, even though he had not anticipated her to be so direct about herself.
"This Regina is different from the previous one, who was predictable and easy to read." Derek looked at Regina, feeling the weight in the car as she became motionless.
Regina said nothing, perplexed as to why she had even brought up the awkward tension between them.
Up until he struck up the conversation, she was better at reading her emails.
"Is not it great?" she muttered, averting her gaze. Feeling his eyes still on her, she felt her heartbeat quicken.
Derek scoffed and nodded his head.
