Later that night, following a little conversation, Abby excused herself to the balcony. She was feeling restless and needed a breather. But even after spending close to fifteen minutes standing there, she remained unchanged.
"Mind if I join." Clara's voice came from behind and Abby turned to face her.
"Why not?" She smiled and turned to face the starry night once more.
Following her line of sight, Clara stood beside her and inquired, "What has been bothering you all this time?"
Looking at Clara, Abby shrugged and said, "What is bothering me? I am doing just fine."
Abby tried pretending to act as if everything was okay, but who was she trying to fool?
Clara, her friend who had known her for ages.
"Abby, there is no way you can pretend like everything is fine. If it wasn't, you would have worn only one earring." Clara pointed at her empty ear and smiled.
