Adrian's attention was quickly drawn to Clara when she spoke, and he was reminded of his earlier reaction
Adrian was unaware of the reason behind his sudden anxiety, but the knowledge that his mother was in this city caused his heart to race.
"Don't worry, I am fine." Adrian attempted to reassure Clara by forcing a smile. "I just got distracted for a while."
He chose not to share any information about Emily with Clara for the time being, but he could not help but wonder why his father had not told anyone about their encounter.
Clara frowned as she saw Adrian turn away and carry on working without bringing up Emily.
Taking a deep breath, Clara turned away from the situation and went back to work, hoping Adrian would bring up the subject on his own.
