Hazel's words eventually stirred Vincent's heart, but he just stared until she fell back asleep.
"Why would she say something like that?" He muttered, feeling lost for words.
Hazel had insisted on knowing why he had avoided her for so long, and for some reason, after hearing what she had to say, Vincent's already racing heart calmed down.
The warmth of her body slowly seeped into Vincent's heart, drawing him out of his stiffness and helping him to find some sleep.
As morning finally arrived, Vincent was the first to awaken, finding Hazel still curled up next to him. A smile appeared on his lips, and he inadvertently leaned forward to kiss her forehead.
…
'Vincent, why would you do that' Vincent paused as soon as he realized his mistake and pulled his face back.
"It is inappropriate for you to kiss her in that way," Vincent said to himself as he cautiously attempted to release her grasp.
