Outside Emily's ward, Edric looked through the square window and watched the doctor examine her.
He was shocked that Emily would act as though she did not know him and that they were complete strangers by pushing him out in this manner.
Staring inside for a few minutes, Edric's concentration was broken when he heard someone ask about Emily.
His head turned to look at the man who hurriedly walked past him into the room.
"Mom!" The call from him left Edric stunned, and the door closed right before him.
"Mom?" Edric's gaze returned to the two as he felt the constriction in his chest again.
Edric was reminded of Emily's treachery, and he left the place furiously without waiting for another second.

"Derek, I am doing well. It is just a minor scratch, nothing more," Emily attempted to reassure Derek about her condition, but he chose to ignore her and go see the doctor.
