Now
“What are we watching?” My eyes widen at the sound of the voice. Vincent. We all turned around and we saw him walking into the room carrying three bags of different brands, he was hanging his coat on the hanger and untied his shoes before coming closer to us. He was wearing a woollen turtleneck and black suit trousers. It somehow fit him amazingly.
“Vincy!” I heard a very irritating person shriek close to me, before sprinting off to Vincent. Vincent didn’t do anything except greeting her politely before he came closer to us and sat down on a couch next to us. He noticed the screen and his facial expression immediately changed, not in the bad way he somehow smiled but with a frown on his face. His face turned to me and I shrugged not knowing what to say.
“Seems like we are watching ‘beautiful lies.’” Vincent spoke to everyone. It was suddenly quiet, everyone's attention focused on Vincent. He was sitting there amazingly calm as he even took the remote from the small table and clicked on ‘play’.
“Why?” The movie spoke. I glanced towards Vincent where Violet suddenly sat beside him. I couldn’t see Vincent too well, the light was off and the only light was coming from dimly lit candles.
“Because you are a duke, a person who owns the land my family lives on. I can’t just be with you, I see you as a… as a…”
“As a what? You know my feelings, I just confessed to you for god’s sake!”
This feels like a memory from my past life. Where I was still happy, where I thought that everything was finally falling into pieces, where I believed that I could never be that happy.
“I am going to do something, and if you don’t like it, you must push me away.” It is very strange to see this scene again. The way that Vincent first spoke in my ear before kissing me, The way that he pushed me closer to me, the way that his lips felt on mine, the way my heart was almost failing me.
“What did you actually say to Pandora before kissing her? Because they say that it wasn't the intention but it still made the final cut.” Otis asked Vincent. Vincent turned towards him and quickly glanced towards me before telling Otis “I don’t remember.” But the way that Vincent kept his on mine told me enough. He knew it all but just wanted me to say it. He smiled before retrieving his attention towards the screen.
“Do you remember this?” Vincent asked me when the scene came where two side characters were kissing each other.
“Yes, you threw me over your shoulder and ran around the set.” I laughed. After I realised that this is the first time that I actually talked with Vincent. I have only shared small words with him, that were strictly business and that one time at the subway. He seemed to notice as well and the laughter grew quiet.
After a short 20 minutes, when things finally started to get interesting, the stupid girl, Violet said that it was quite late and that she wanted to sleep except we wanted to do the presents. So we decided that tomorrow evening we would continue the movie and now do the presents. Everyone is used to doing the presents on christmas morning but tomorrow morning around 5 o’clock we need to be on set so we decided that evening is the perfect time.
I got a candle from Zelda, a copy of Sense and Sensibility of Otis, a bouquet of flowers from Roman, and a check from a bookstore of Felix.
“Pandora, I didn’t get you anything, because I feel like we don’t really connect and I don’t want to waste money on useless connections.” Wow. Bitch.
“That is really bitchy of you Violet.” Sharon defended me. I gestured to her that she needs to stop before this goes down.
“What? It’s not like you got me something!” Violet shouted towards Sharon.
“Girls! Girls calm down.” Otis and Felix stood up and shouted at them. Violet scoffed before she left the room and walked into her bedroom. I shared a look with Sharon to make sure she’s fine, she somehow seemed happier.
“Then it will be Vincent’s turn.”
“Here. I hope you still like it.” Vincent says as he passes his wrapped gift towards me. I recognize that it’s a book.
As I unpack the gift, I recognise it immediately.
“You didn’t.” I mumble as I continue unpacking it.
“You did. How did you get this exclusive version?” I ask in awe. This is my favourite book for ages and I can’t believe Vincent got the exclusive version, this must’ve cost him a fortune.
“I know you liked it a long time ago and I have connections.” He spoke. It is incredible honestly.
As people continued to unpack their gifts I mouthed a ‘thank you’ towards Vincent and he smiled towards me as a reaction.
Later that evening when I couldn’t fall asleep next to a snoring Sharon, I decided to go out to the kitchen and make some tea and sit on the balcony. But I wasn’t the only one with that idea.
I saw a familiar posture sitting on the balcony. He was reading his script and drank something. I smiled at the picture, this is exactly what I thought that Vincent would become. I always used to tell him that he would read and that he would only use his phone for calls and emails, and I was right.
“Hi.” I mumbled as I walked into the balcony with my hot cup of tea. He looked up at me and sat up straighter to make space for me to walk by.
“Can’t sleep?” He asked. I nodded and looked into the city streets that were surprisingly quiet.
“Same, I still need to learn the script.”
“About tomorrow, do we have that interview? Or is it rescheduled? I tried to search for the email but didn’t receive anything.” I said. Tomorrow we should have an interview except they said they might reschedule it, but that didn’t happen so I was curious if I didn’t receive it or if it is still on the planning.
“We have that interview. We will miss shooting a few scenes but I already talked with the director and he said that it is fine.”
“Great,”
“Thank you for the book, I can’t believe you remembered.” He looks up from the script and smiles at me before sipping his cup.
“I didn’t forget anything about you.” A blush made its way to my face, thank the lord that it’s dark right now.
